I have been to WDW many times throughout the years with my family growing up and most recently, on my honeymoon 6 years ago. I have always considered myself very familiar with the parks and everything WDW has to offer, that is until I discovered the DIS boards a few weeks ago; now I feel like a WDW newbie! I have found out so much information I never knew, have compiled a list of "secrets" I can't wait to discover, and found out some wonderful tips that I know will make our September trip wonderful! One thing I still don't know though is what exactly an e-ride night is. I keep reading about it, but I haven't been able to figure it out from the context of the messages. Could someone please explain to me what exactly it is, when does it take place, are there any rules for who can participate, and what is the advantage/purpose of it? It will just be my husband and I going to WDW, so is it geared toward families with children, mainly just adults, or is it for the benefit of everyone? Does it happen in all of the parks?

I have a few other questions also, but I will start with just this one for right now!

Thanks to all of you for already providing so much useful information! :wave2:

"A Magic Kingdom E-Ride Night is a special after hours (hard-ticketed) event held on selected nights at the Magic Kingdom.

The great thing about a Magic Kingdom E-Ride Night is that ticket sales are very limited (rumors say about 5,000). (To put that in perspective, a slow day at the Magic Kingdom nets about 25,000 visitors.) The park will remain open 3 hours after its stated closing time for you to enjoy the E-Ticket Rides.

For $12.72 with tax per Adult per night, and $10.60 with tax per Child 3-9 per night, you will be able to enjoy the MK's E-Ticket attractions with super short waits. " (Deb Wills www.allearsnet.com )

E-nights are for adults, kids and in-betweens. We love them!

You must be a Disney resort guest (Swan & Dolphin also qualify) and have a multi-day hopper pass .

The Basics
E-Ride Nights at the Magic Kingdom are special after-hours events held exclusively for Walt Disney World Resort guests who have a multi-day passport (Annual Passports are acceptable but you still must be a resort guest). The most popular attractions are open and ticket sales are limited so the lines are kept very short. As of May 2004 the attractions open for E-Ride nights are:

Big Thunder Mountain
Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin
Haunted Mansion
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
Philharmagic
Peter Pan's Flight
Space Mountain
Splash Mountain
Characters are also be available for pictures and autographs and selected food and merchandise locations are open.

As with everything, be sure to call Walt Disney World shortly before your trip to confirm this information.

How it Works

E-Ride Night tickets prices are $12.00 for adults and $10.00 for children 3-9 (plus tax). Tickets may be purchased at most Walt Disney World resort or at the Magic Kingdom ticket booths.
You must be a Walt Disney World Resort guest with one of the following multi-day tickets - Ultimate Park Hopper, Park Hopper PLUS, Park Hopper, Seasonal Pass, Annual Pass or Premium Annual Pass - to purchase E-Ride Night tickets. Tickets can be purchased at your resort from desk or a theme park guest services window.
You must enter the Magic Kingdom during normal hours. using your multi-day ticket.
At some point (usually 3 hours) before the park closes go to a designated E-Ride wristband location and exchange your E-Ride ticket for a wristband. Exchange locations are usually located near City Hall on Main Street, near Space Mountain in Tomorrowland and new Splash Mountain in Frontierland.
Once the park ends its normal business day, the nine attractions mentioned above will remain open but only guests with wristbands will be allowed to board.
Guests at Shades of Green, the Swan or Dolphin, Doubletree near Downtown Disney or Best Western Lake Buena Vista are eligible for E-Ride tickets. However, you may need to purchase your E-Ride ticket at another resort or a theme park guest services window.
Admission is very limited at these events and they rarely sell-out, so waits are usually very short or non-existent. In fact, it's sometimes possible to ride an attraction more than once without getting off.
