So I have started to get together our ADR's for September, only 49 days until I can book :cool1:

Let me know your thoughts, are we missing any must go's, anything you would replace?

Since we are on DXDP we know that we are going to be really full and are prepared to sometimes skip apps or dessert to make room for our next meal. :rotfl:

Parks and days are subject to change to meet our ADRs

Thanks!

Looks like a lot of eating, lol. I'm wondering about the park hours in September. Are they out? Are they open long hours? A couple days you are planning b, l, and d in the same park and I'm thinking that will be too much eating if the hours are say 9am-7pm. I guess it depends on the hours and how much you can eat. Personally if we do a buffet bkft, we would not eat a lunch. If you pair a buffet bkft with a 2cr dinner, then maybe you could avoid some OOP meals and use a snack credit for a treat in the middle of the day. For 10 days, you will have 30 dining credits per person? I didn't think I counted 30. Also, with so many dining options, I don't think I'd repeat any restaurants like Chef Mickeys or Crystal Palace. Sounds like a great trip!

One other quick note, your ticker says you'll be at Pop? Will you have a car because getting to all those resort restaurants and then going to a park will be very time consuming. We stayed at Pop in 2009 and while the bfkt options aren't a great use of a dining credit, we did find it to be a tasty and convenient start to our day before heading to the parks.

Looks like a LOT of great eatting. :thumbsup2

We did 7 days of DDx in 2009. I might suggest doing more 2 credit dinners instead of some of the lunches particularly when trying to squeeze them into one day at a park. Otherwise you might be too full to enjoy the park plus you will loose a lot of time sitting for the meal. When we went we did a lot of charecter breakfast and then a 2 credit dinner or diner show. Also if you get rid of some of the lunches there would be no reason to pay OOP for your first and last meals.

Narcossee and Citrico at the GF are both good and easy to access from the MK. You might also consider a 2 credit dinner show for after park closing like the Hoop Dee Doo Review or the Luau at the Poly.

If this schedule works for your family then keep it as is a Go For It!! Have a great trip.

Thanks for the input! We went with DXDP this time because last time we had DDP we spent about $500 OOP in breakfasts, snacks and 1 TS due to doing CRT and that was with one less kid. I could cut a signature or two and use a TC for Pizza planet and Earl of Sandwich, but I just hate using a TS for a CS lol. I know I am crazy money is money and is better kept in our pocket.

I agree about the park hours and unfortunately September hasn't been released yet, I may have to make some changes once they do release them. Hopefully it will be before the 180 day mark for my ADRs.

Most of our buffets are for the characters and not really the food so I don’t feel we will gorge ourselves. Thanks for bringing up the travel times. I did try to map out the restaurants, Pop and parks as best I could but I guess I should try to tweak them a little more. I’ll take your advice and avoid doing any restaurants I have more than once.

Thanks again!

I think you have too many places and you'll feel like you're just going meal to meal. One downside of the dxdp is it really ties up your schedule. When we did dx, we mixed in some cs lunches and mainly used snacks to tide over until lunch (no sit down breakfast), then used 2ts credits on most dinners. It's your opportunity to sample most of the signature restaurants.

Will give opinion on ones I've been to:

Hollywood & Vine – MGM (B) Had lunch there and wasn't a fan - like eating at a Golden Coral
Pizza Planet – MGM (L) 0 (OOP) excellent cs - pizza isn't NY quality, but not awful, and they have some good salads

Tusker’s – Animal Kingdom (B) Great character meal, great food
Yak & Yeti – Animal Kingdom (L) Good solid choice - one of the better lunches we had in our visits
Liberty Tree Tavern – Magic Kingdom (L) Another solid choice
CRT (2cr) - Magic Kingdom (D) Eating in the castle is cool, but other than that it's very unspactacular. Food is ok, not great. Very crowded to the point of being a bit uncomfortable bumping chairs with other tables
Akershus Royal Banquet Hall – Epcot (B) better princess interaction than CRT - food ok
Chef Mickey’s ?? We wouldn't go back - poor food quality (also like golden coral), messy buffet, inconveinient bathroom location, more crowded than CRT.May change, not sure where– Contemporary Resort (B)
Narcoossee?? Not sure about this one, may change (2cr)(D) Haven't eaten here but see good reviews - did eat at Yachtsman which was spactacular
Chef Mickey’s – (B) see above - imo eating here is NOT worth the benefit of seing the main characters
Liberty Tree Tavern – Magic Kingdom (L) It was good, but 2x in a trip is alot

Agree that some of those days you'll be way too stuffed. If you can take out some of those meals in exchange for snack credits (muffins for breakfast go real far or skip some lunches on buffet breakfast days), and adding in more signatures, you'll be better off. Hollywood Brown Derby in MGM is good for lunch or dinner. Flying Fish is great for dinner on the Boardwalk. (From the Pop, you can take the bus to MGM then the boat from MGM to Boardwalk. Or take a cab, sometimes it's worth it.) I see you have two meals at Wilderness Lodge, I would just do Artist Point, drop Whispering Canyon for Flying Fish instead. If you dress appropriately at MGM to go straight to a Sig, getting to FF from MGM is really easy by boat.

Ps -- Narcoossee's is one of the best DxDP meals. You'll feel you're getting your money's worth ordering the $58 lobster! (Which is fantastic, by the way.) Good appetizers and dessert, too. I've been there twice, once the service was fantastic, the other time we HATED the waiter. Not because he was slow, but because he came off like a pompous jerk. The only time we've had that in about 20 signature meals. Thankfully we didn't see him that second time we went and got a great waitress.

Thursday September 22 Arrival Day (Magic Kingdom)
Earl of Sandwich – Downtown Disney (L) - oop Why DTD? Are you driving? Otherwise that's a lot of unnecessary travel on the way to MK. We're always gung-ho on those first few park days, so I'd look for a MK QS here instead and get to the rides sooner.
O’hana – Disney Polynesian Resort (D)

Friday September 23 (MGM)
Hollywood & Vine – MGM (B)
Pizza Planet – MGM (L) 0 (OOP) Depending on your times, you could probably skip this one and just use snack credits at one of the bakeries between meals.
Artisan Point (2cr) –Whispering Canyon Lodge (D) We loved Artist Point, the salmon is just amazing!

Saturday September 24 (Animal Kingdom)
Tusker’s – Animal Kingdom (B)
Yak & Yeti – Animal Kingdom (L)
Sanaa – Disney Animal Kingdom Lodge (D)

Sunday September 25 (Magic Kingdom)
Crystal Place – Magic Kingdom (B)
Liberty Tree Tavern – Magic Kingdom (L) This was a fabulous but huge lunch on our last trip, I can't imagine how you'll be hungry enough for dinner!
CRT (2cr) - Magic Kingdom (D)

Monday September 26 (Epcot)
Akershus Royal Banquet Hall – Epcot (B)
Teppan Edo – Epcot (L)
Biergarten – Epcot (D)

Tuesday September 27(Off)
Chef Mickey’s ?? May change, not sure where– Contemporary Resort (B) I'd probably skip breakfast this morning in favor of QS or snacks at your resort. You have a lot of long days packed with good food, and odds are sleeping in will sound better than hopping a bus to a breakfast ADR at this point in the trip!
Reglan Road – Downtown Disney (L)
Goofy’s Candy Shop (snack credits)
Narcoossee?? Not sure about this one, may change (2cr)(D) Narcoosees is DH & DS's favorite signature. I'm not as wowed by it as by some of the others since I don't care for lobster, but we had two very good meals there and they have my all time favorite Disney dessert, the almond crusted cheesecake.

Wednesday September 28 (MGM)
Chef Mickey’s – (B)
Sci-Fi- MGM (L)
Whispering Canyon Café – Whispering Canyon Lodge (D)

Thursday September 29 (Magic Kingdom)
Crystal Palace – Magic Kingdom (B) Twice in one trip? I think I'd look elsewhere for this morning. 1900 Park Fare gets mostly good reviews, and there's always the non-character Tonga Toast fix over at Kona. Or you could move CRT here and free up your first MK evening for a monorail resort dinner.
Liberty Tree Tavern – Magic Kingdom (L) Twice on this one feels like overkill to me. Have you looked at the Plaza? Fresh sandwiches make for a little bit lighter meal and the desserts are excellent!
Kona – Polynesian Resort (D) One of our perennial must-dos.

Friday September 30 (Epcot)
O’hana – Disney Polynesian Resort (B) My favorite character meal, hands down. The interaction was great, and Stitch is just so in character.
San Angel Inn– Epcot (L)
Chef de France – Epcot (D)

Saturday October 1 (Magic Kingdom)
MK Bakery (B) (SC or OOP) Snacks make great meals here, so you shouldn't need to pay OOP. Pretty much all of the pastries and all the drinks are snack credits, so unless you're looking for one of the main-course sandwiches you can just build a meal using as many snacks as you need.
The Wave – Contemporary Resort (L)
California Grill (D) (2cr) My personal favorite signature, mainly for the sushi and flatbreads. This one makes our list every trip now!

Sunday October 2 Departure Day :(
Pop for Breakfast OOP

Hope this helps. :goodvibes I love DxDDP planning!

Thanks alot everyone...very very helpful. Now a new twist I now only have 16 days to book our ADRs as my Dh's 1st choice vacation request was not approved and we had to go with his second choice in August!

Thanks again!

Well, the August hours are at least out now so you know the parks will be open pretty late. Maybe this will make planning a bit easier? We're considering a late August trip ourselves since it's our 25th anniversary and we did honeymoon at Disney but we just haven't decided to return to our favorite and familiar or go for something totally different like an All-Inclusive resort or cruise. I wanna do all of them, lol.

I'd definitely be leery of 3 meals a day. We do the dxdp too normally but you need to mix it up. If you have 3 sit downs you will be spending on average 5 hrs of your day eating (and that doesn't include any travel time).
I'd suggest either a late breakfast or early lunch paired with dinner. I'd definitely keep a signature or show once a day. (Narcossee is awesome by the way!) If there are a couple of places you want to eat and can't fit in then maybe 1 day a 3 meal day would work. (But you better eat either a really early breakfast or a really late dinner to space them out!) Remember though that once you eat you still have to walk around /ride rides in the park. This will be particularly overwhelming in Aug heat with very large meals.
I would not add oop meals to what you already have! You will need to bring pants in 3 different sizes. The ones for the beginning of the trip, the middles, and I'd suggest sweatpants for the way home! :lmao:
You may eat 3 meals a day at home but I can guarantee that they will not be as large as any three you pick no matter what combination. Remember you also have 2 snacks you need to use too! ;)

So I have started to get together our ADR's for September, only 49 days until I can book :cool1:

Pop for Breakfast OOP

You have a lot of days where you've scheduled three full meals and this when I think folks run into serious trouble on the DxDDP. I can eat, that's for sure, and I loved the DxDP, but even with only two meals a day I was full almost all the time. I don't know who you are travelling with, but DxDP seems to work out best when you do either breakfast or a farily early lunch and then a signature at night. You end up with a ton of snack credits if you're hungry in between.

As for your choices, IMO San Angel Inn and Chefs are not worth it. San Angel was just yucky...my meat had the same taste that a supposedly-flame broiled whopper has. I enjoy authentic, real Mexican food so it wasn't that I was disappointed that it wasn't Tex-Mex, I was just disappointed because I felt the quality of the food was bad. Service was very slow, too. Very pretty place, though. And while Chefs has its share of fans, it was, by far, the worst meal of our last trip. Slightly rude service, sub-par food. I actually sent my meal back! And Biergarten is just so much fun!

Actually after reading a few more reviews on Chefs, I too was questioning this meal. I mean we wouldn't even get to see Remy! :sad1: I have changed some things around and could actually do Le Cellier here instead, if I can get it. We wanted to try San Angel strictly due to the setting and the fact that on our honeymoon 12 years ago this was one of the only sit down places we ate. We too really like Mexican, never doing chain type Mexican and only the really good hole in the wall type places. So we aren’t set on San Angel, what about Coral Reef? Thoughts? I know this place has mixed reviews but the kids would probably love the fish. We loved Biertgarten, the food was pretty good, the kid (only had the one last time) loved the dancing and stuff and DH especially loved the ginormous beers! :lmao:

Thanks again everyone. Updated ADR's coming soon.

Oh whats everyones thoughts on Hollywood Brown Derby and doing a Fantasmic dinner package?

Your post made me laugh....yes I think I am going to have to re-think some of this. A lot of times on our last trip we did eat three meals a day, only one sit down though. I think a bigger breakfast and earlier dinner with snacks in between is the way to go.

I'd definitely be leery of 3 meals a day. We do the dxdp too normally but you need to mix it up. If you have 3 sit downs you will be spending on average 5 hrs of your day eating (and that doesn't include any travel time).

I noticed you mentioned dressing appropriately. What is the consensus for attire at signature restaurants? Business casual, polo tees and khaki shorts, plain tees and shorts…what’s the cut off for acceptance? And are the signature restaurants in the parks a little more lenient?

Agree that some of those days you'll be way too stuffed. If you can take out some of those meals in exchange for snack credits (muffins for breakfast go real far or skip some lunches on buffet breakfast days), and adding in more signatures, you'll be better off. I can say what I said in all honesty ... becasue the first time we did dxdp I tried three meals a day. After the first 3 days I didn't want to eat PERIOD! We had to skip meals and ended up with a lot of credits left over. (My husband and I both love to eat but it was not set up well.) Since then we've done more of the way I suggested and we now LOVE the dxdp. It gives you soooo much flexibility. But even with only 2 meals a day you might still need those sweatpants! ;)

Updated List....still trying to trim the excess fat :lmao: But I just don't see how I can trim it anymore on the days we have 3 TS as these are places we really want to go. I guess skipping apps and desserts would help. We also have an almost 3 yr old to help eat the extras.

I was thinking of doing one of the dinner shows.. which do you like the best and why? MBB, Hoop Dee Doo, or Luau? We are thinking about cutting CRT since we have gone before and are planning on seeing the princesses at Akershus....man this is so hard.
