I apologize if this has already been asked, I have tried to search the forum and cannot find an answer.

We have a 3 year old who occasionally will pack away a good portion of a kids meal, but most often will not. 2 adult meals would be plenty for all 3 of us in most instances. When we are at our TS is he going to HAVE to order off the menu? Or would it be okay if we all just shared the appetizer, entrees and desserts taking up 2 Adult credits and save his child credit for a different meal? When we pay OOP we sometimes do it this way, but I don't know if he's "forced" to order because we are on the Dining Plan.

Thank you for your help!

I suppose you could just have him share your meal - no one is forced to order a meal on the dining plan except at buffets or family style, they will charge a credit for everyone at the table. But what good would it do to save the child credit for a different meal? It's not like he'll be able to go on his own and use it, lol.

Thank you for the info! Everywhere I read it says the child "must order off the kid's menu", but I wasn't sure if it was referring to them having to actually order, or just IF they were going to order, they had to order off the kids menu (which we are fine with). Seems like it's just that when they do in fact order they need to order off the kid's (if available).

We would use his credit at a CS and/or during lunch, when he is most likely to eat more. We also are DVC members and hope to take advantage of the "new" perk that will allow us to book DxDDP every other day instead of every day. So we will be doing about half CS and half TS having those credits span over 2 days, eating breakfast in the room.

And yes, sometimes he would just eat by himself - if he happens to sleep through a meal and wakes up hungry we stop and get a CS for just him - happens at least once every trip! :goodvibes

yeah, that should work, then...a lot of kids seem to prefer the counter service meals. And they do have the advantage of complete flexibility for when you eat. Have fun!:thumbsup2

Thank you! I'm pretty excited with this working for our upcoming trip. It will save us a nice chunk of change with the TS we already have on the books and it might even allow us to fit in HDDR. We'll see, gotta do more budget crunching. :teacher:

Thanks again!
