DxDDP for young family of 4 - Tons of Food Pics - UPDATED *12/17!* Whispering Canyon

Cute Shirts!!! We do the same thing by paying our bill early. Sometimes I even send dh ahead to get the Fastpasses while we take our time walking to the ride.

nice review, love the walk on TSM especially! thats a pretty rare thing :)

I really like your shirts. We are going to attempt to make some for our trip next year. I agree about Hollywood and Vine. We had dinner there a few years ago and yuck. We won't be doing it again. Your DS looked very happy to meet OSO.:)
Thanks! They were fun. We got a ton of compliments on them. Yeah the food isn't the best, but it wasn't horrible, so I was happy with it since my son got to meet his favorite. :)

subbing, love the reviews so far, looking forward to the rest!
Thank you for reading! Glad you are liking them. :goodvibes

Thank you, they seemed to be a hit! We were going to do that with DH walking over if we weren't done with breakfast yet, but luckily it worked out that we finished about 10 minutes early.

Thanks! And yes it was kind of weird but I am not complaining! :lmao:

Great update, I'm glad your son got to meet Oso :goodvibes
Loving the reviews so far, they are helping me decide where to eat :thumbsup2 and how many places and amazing food I have missed

:thumbsup2I love your shirts. Great update, I was so hoping my son doesn't want to eat at Hollywood and Vine but wants to go there (and he wants to go 2x :lmao:). He saw that Agent Oso is there and can't wait. We have been going to this place and I was really hoping he outgrows it but it is one of the best character interaction with the sing/dance and parade (so who cares for food right...its all about our kids smile and laughters and memories...that's what I remember from all the 4 trips we have taken him too:rotfl:)
Thanks for sharing the pictures...my son is jumping up an down seeing them:banana:

Aww that is too cute. I think you have to endure H&V again and take him! Just go for breakfast, harder to screw up. :rotfl:

So we spent the morning at DHS but we had a 2:00ADR for Le Cellier. It was the only time I could fit it into our schedule so we decided that we would catch the boat from DHS over to EPCOT. If you decide to do this, allow at least 30 minutes for the boat ride. We did this, but I didn’t expect it to actually take that long. I wasn’t aware of how many stops the boat actually had. It was a neat experience though, and the kids liked it.

We arrived at our ADR right on time. They took about 10 minutes to seat us and then we were taking to the Northwest Territories. Our waitress was nice and pleasant, but very busy. I had to ask a copule of times for refills and such but other than that she was good.

Here is the menu we were given.

They also had a fixed price option that included appetizer, entrée, and dessert, but we didn’t give it much of a look since we were getting that anyway, it would only limit our choices. But, this would be good for someone on the regular dining plan or paying OOP.

We requested all pretzel bread in our bread basket, and that is what we got.

My husband ordered the pomegranate lemonade to drink and I got a coke as usual. Our kids normally get water, which they did, but I decided to take advantage of some of the other options for them and also ordered them a Mango Smoothie called the Niagara Refresher. They split it into two cups for the kids and they really enjoyed the taste. They normally don’t get anything to drink except for water but sometimes at home I make them smoothies as a treat so I thought they would really think this was great. It was so hot outside that they sucked it down really quickly. This is how full the cup was when they split it in half for both kids to share:

For our appetizer my husband and I chose to share the Appetizer Trio to Share - Tomato Stack, Lump Crab, and Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup
46c90086.jpg

I thought this would be perfect for us, but to be honest, it was not that good. The soup was OK and probably the best thing on the plate, but I just personally do not love the flavor of it. I’ve had it several times now, and it just isn’t my thing. The lump crab was not what I was expecting. It was just OK for me but my husband liked it and he ate both of them. He also enjoyed the soup and ate a bowl of that. We gave the other bowl to my daughter and my son ate the tomatoes (he LOVES tomatoes). So it worked out for the best, and I still had plenty of room for my filet, which is what I was really wanting! For the kids appetizer we got a bowl of the soup as well, and my son ate that and seemed to like it.

This is the menu the kids had:

I’m sorry it is blurry but you can tell a little bit from the pictures.
My son insisted he wanted the hot dog. He hadn’t had one yet this trip and we rarely ever have them at home, so that is what he got. We ordered it with the apple slices.
5ee2db9d.jpg

As you can see, the apple slices came with a big spoon full of brown sugar on top. I was less than impressed with this. It is fruit, there is no reason it needs to have SUGAR on it!!! :confused3 I immediately took the bowl and got the sugar off as much as I could and then gave it back to them. The hot dog seemed fine and they finished it all along with the apples.

For my main dish I chose the Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon, but I substituted the cream cheese mashed potatoes for the risotto because I just don’t care much for risotto.
72fa4768.jpg

I can’t even describe to you how good this was. :lovestruc:cloud9::lovestruc:cloud9: The steak literally melted in your mouth. It was cooked perfectly, had an amazing flavor, and was so tender to eat! The potatoes were wonderful with it and the herb butter sauce on top was just incredible. I absoteluly loved this dish. This single handedly tied this meal for 2nd place out of all our meals even though I didn’t much care for the appetizer or dessert I got. This was one good filet!

For my husband’s entrée, he chose the Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon - with wild mushroom risotto, white truffle and herb butter sauce

He loved this and ate every single bite of it! He thought much the same as I did in that it had excellent flavor, was very tender and cooked to perfection. He compared this with the steak he had a The Wave and said it was *really* close but the Le Cellier Filet was just a little better.

Next up was dessert. I chose something new that I hadn’t tried before, and I can’t find the actual name of it now anywhere, but I believe it was a Bumble Berry Crumble with Ice Cream (it says Blueberry Cobbler on the receipt, but it definitely was not that!)

I really have no idea why I chose this. At the time I remember just being so full that I didn’t think I’d be able to eat much so I got the one I thought the kids could share. None of us liked it though. It was way too tart. We all took one bite and that was it. I would not get this again.

My husband chose the classic Chocolate "Moose" - Chocolate Mousse rolled in Toasted Chocolate Crumbs with Maple Leaf Antlers

He gets this every time, and I really should have gotten this as well. It is always so good. You can never go wrong with this one. It is just as the description states, and the moose is sooooo good with a great flavor. I was envious of his dessert! Luckily, he did share a few bites with me.

Compared to the other meals and prices on our trip, this one was well worth the cost!

OVERALL THOUGHTS:
Le Cellier is always great. We have been several times and never been disappointed in the meal. This time, I didn’t love my appetizer or dessert, but the filet was so great that it totally made up for it and I would definitely come back. My husband enjoyed the entire meal and said this one was his favorite one of the trip.

Up next, Ohana!

yum! we went there last time and they fillet is fantastic!! i think i also substituted for mash potatoes :lmao: the soup isnt for me either tho it seems many people love it. :confused3 next time you should try the cake,it was soooo tasty

I love your update on LeCellier. I was wondering on the appt for 2 people. After looking at the pictures, I'm not to thrilled with the tomato and the crab cakes

Yes the combo is so great! I am glad I am not the only one about the soup! I have tried the Whisky cake, and it was good. Next time, I am sticking to what I know! :goodvibes

Thanks! Yeah if I had seen this picture ahead of time, we would not have gotten it either. Oh well.... next time I will know! :)

It was one of 2 reviews that inspired me to work on my own review of our trip. We'll see if I actually get it done : )

Our next meal was dinner at Ohana. We have never been to Ohana before, or even to the Poly, so this was a really fun experience for all of us. I LOVE the Poly and hope to stay there sometime in the very near future. I think if I did, I might eat at Ohana every night. :lmao: It was seriously great, and one of the few places that our list for our next visit in February.

We had a 7:35 ADR and the place was packed. I thought it would take a while for us to be seated after they gave us the buzzer, but it was less than 10 minutes. We were brought over to a table that was right by the window. We had an amazing view of the castle! You can’t really tell from the picture, which was more my camera’s fault, but here it is:

We ordered our drinks, which were the boring usual. A lemonade for DH, coke for me, and water for the kids. Then they brought out the bread, sauces, and salad.
d0402c05.jpg

I honestly wasn’t too impressed with the bread but it wasn’t bad. I was just expecting more. The kids sure did enjoy it though. I really loved the salad. It was very light but tasty, a nice change from what I had been eating.

Then they brought all of this out to us at once. I didn’t take individual pictures of each dish but in this photo you can see quite a few of them.
0cba26e1.jpg

So that is the potstickers and wings in the front, then in the background you can see the noodles and the broccoli. The broccoli was nothing special but my DS5 and DD2 did eat some and liked it. The potstickers and the chicken were both really good! My husband ate a bunch of the wings and I had 2 of them. Very good flavor! We both had a couple of the potstickers and really enjoyed trying them with all of the sauces. My favorite from this bunch though was the noodles. They were simply amazing! I could not get enough of these and ate almost all of them! It actually makes my mouth water to even think of them. The may not look like anything special, but oh my are they tasty! They have kind of a sweet and tangy taste that just is unlike any other noodles I have ever had. Believe it or not, the noodles were my favorite part of the whole meal! They were that good.

Next they brought out all of the meats, one on top of the other. We had steak, pork, chicken, and shrimp.
0038871b.jpg

The shrimp were definitely my favorite. The other meats were good, but not much flavor and a little dry. Not horrible, just not perfect. I still really enjoyed them dipped in the different sauces.

They also had selections for the kids. Somehow I did not get a picture of this, but the waiter said there were a few options for the kids that weren’t the standard things they bring to the table. My kids heard the list and voiced their opinions on what they wanted. My daughter wanted Mac & Cheese, and since she hadn’t had it yet in our trip and it is one of her favorites, we went ahead and got it for her. My son wanted the cheeseburger. It came with fries but we told them not to bring those since there were plenty of other healthier options on the table for him to have (like the broccoli, salad, etc.). They both loved their meals and ate a good bit of them along with some of the other foods. I don’t remember the entire list of kids options, but I know he did also say chicken nuggets. There was no extra charge for these items.

You can kind of see the Mac N Cheese in this picture (not that you can’t guess what it looked like, just typical Disney Mac N Cheese)

So, after we stuffed ourselves silly… they brought this.
724e3d00.jpg

Oh my. :cloud9::love::lovestruc I have read about this, but I thought I would not like it because I am not a bread pudding fan. Wow was I wrong! This banana bread pudding topped with vanilla ice cream and warm caramel sauce was pure heaven! I am not big on ice cream or really dessert in general, but let me tell you, I could eat this all day! It was simply heaven on a plate.

COST BREAKDOWN:

Worth every penny! I’d actually probably pay more for this meal, but shhhh don’t tell them!

OVERALL THOUGHTS:
Ohana tied for 2nd place overall meal this trip with Le Cellier (The Wave being my overall favorite). They are totally different, but both were great! I loved everything about Ohana. I loved how they serve you and it’s all you can eat but not a buffet. That way you can pick and choose what you’d like more or less of. I loved the atmosphere and watching the castle change colors as we sat and ate our dinner. I loved watching the kids have fun with the activities. It was just an overall very pleasant experience and one I would like to do again very soon! We will be back here for sure!

Thanks for the post, I have cancelled Ohana dinner...Thanks for letting me know our son can get hamburger there...maybe we will try it oneday....

Yum! I am so looking forward to our 'Ohana ADR now!! That bread pudding looks DELISH!
