The kids are dying for a pet. We're thinking something small (they've already said they do not want fish again
). I'm not big into hamsters or guinea pigs.
DH's coworker recommended a dwarf bunny. He has one and said it's a nice pet. Anyone out there have one (or more?). Are they okay with children? Can you leave them in a rabbit hutch outside for the winter, or do we need to make a space in the house? Any info you could give me would be greatly appreciated, I don't want to enter this blindly.
One more thing, DD#1 is allergic to cats (we think). Would this pose a problem for her?
Thank you!!

Not sure if it died from exposure to the elements, or other issues. DD got a lop-eared rabbit about 8 years ago which lived in a cage in her room here at home, and still lives in a cage at DD's place in Florida. If the cage is in a small area(like a bedroom) you would want to clean the cage at least a couple of times a week. DD would only clean it once per week or so, and there was major stank
However, DD kept her door closed ALL the time so the rest of us didn't have to deal with it.
