Apparently they don't because the Mansion has to be closed for two weeks in August/September to apply the overlay, and two weeks in January to take it down. At Disneyland, where the majority of their guests are locals, that goes over better than it would at WDW where most guests are from out of town, many of whom are on their one and only trip to WDW.

I dont even know what Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy is. can you tell I've never been to Disneyland at this time of year.

Well I have noticed that there are differences between DW & DL. At both places there are things the other does not have. I think that's a nice treat.

I personally enjoy the Nightmare Before Christmas version at DL. Partly because I love Tim Burton.

I would make a point to visit some of the resorts. Their holiday decorations are AMAZING. My favorite is the Wilderness Lodge, but the Grand Floridian is also spectacular.

Unfortunately no. But look at the bright side. It's a good reason to visit DL!

I dont even know what Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy is. can you tell I've never been to Disneyland at this time of year.

SM Ghost Galaxy is an overlay they apply to Space Mountain during the Halloweentime at DL. Basically, some new effects (a few projects, some sounds) are added to the ride. They aren't significant changes (which is why the install and take-out happen over the course of a few days). The biggest (to some) effects are actually outside the ride, on the building. There are periodic crashes of thunder and lighting projected around SM, all with a slightly reddish overtone. The ride itself is generally the same, but you do catch a glimpse of some creepy/skeleton type creature once on a while (all projections on a screen). When I've ridden in the front of the car, I see the creature. When I'm in the back, it's harder to see. I wouldn't make a trip to DLR to see SMGG, but if you're there and you like SM, it can be fun.

I concur that while HMH is cute and fun, I can't see WDW closing down the HM for a little more than two weeks (it was 17-days this year for the install) every Aug/Sep and Jan to install and remove the overlay.
