I think the addition of Dana as CCO is a very good sign. I think that means he and the board recognize his gaps and she can compliment him there and possibly even transition into the CEO role eventually as well. Im optimistic.

I agree, and I honestly think the current strategy supports this. WDW invests heavily into plusing up their existing parks and maximizing their footprints. You get the hype and popularity for a while with these new lands in MK, AK, HS, etc. That then gives them headroom to focus on the 5th gate.

I agree with your thoughts on Dana plugging the gaps in Josh's resume. However, Dana transitioning to CEO not going to happen, Josh is 54 years old, Dana is a young looking 61 year old. By the time Josh is ready to hand over the keys to the Kingdom (hopefully he is not pushed out for poor performance), Dana will already be sipping cocktails in her retirement home.

My hunch is, if all goes well Josh will last 7-12 years or so… Doubt Dana will be interested in assuming the torch then..

Either way, she will do just fine financially… or at least better than me…

Actually I think it was an excellent move. Throw mega dollars with a fancy new title to keep her happy. Last thing Josh needs while settling into his new job is to have a big whole in the theatrical end. I have no clue if Josh will be successful, but at least he is not being set up to fail like Chapek was.

I'm no fan of Chapek at all but very few people see it like this. Many revere Iger and despise Chapek when in reality it was Iger who threw this man to the Covid wolves to save his own rear. Again Chapek was horrible but you are absolutely correct in your assessment...he shouldn't have been put in that position to fail in the first place.

We had free FastPass+, free bag check at deluxe resorts, free Magical Express, DVC annual passes at $500, and under $3 Mickey ice cream bars in the park. Now, we have paid Lightning Lanes at $20-40 per day per park, paid individual attractions at $12-25 each, DVC annual passes at $869, and Mickey ice cream bars at $6.50. He's made Disney into a once in a lifetime place for most of the US population.

I went to WDW once as a child. Now maybe Disney under Iger/Chapek/Iger (and D'Amaro) has moved the low-tide mark of the demographic that can afford to go to Disney once while their kids are young, and if I was a kid today my family couldn't afford to go. I'm not sure.

And you have to wonder how financially feasible it was to continue all of those programs long term even without the pandemic? Also, they had 4 months of literally 0 revenue, followed by months and months of decreased volumes. So something had to give. Also where are you getting a DVC annual pass for $869, I want in on that action lol.

$869 was expensive! The best deal for DVC was the $399 Premium Annual Pass back in 2012!

For context, the Premium Annual Pass was essentially the Incredipass with the Water Park and More option... We got it at 43% off.
