DVCMember Website slow?

My DW has been having trouble with the DVC Member website for over a week. I took a look at her problem today and found that on OSX 10.6.7 both Firefox and Safari are having trouble with speed or even accessing the DVCMember site. I reset both Safari and Firefox hoping that clearing the cache and other detrus would help but with little success.

What was very interesting is that while I couldn't get in an OSX based browser, a Windows XP guest had no trouble with either Safari or Firefox.

Any suggestions on what to try next or who to call? I will also put in a feedback on DVCMember as well.

I use a Macbook and my current operation system is OS X 10.6.7. And I have not had any problems with the MS website. I just checked the website again and it worked fine. My DH hasn't had any problems with his Macbook either.

Perhaps your wife needs to do an update on her Mac and that might help.

You're in Texas and I'm in central Indiana. This almost makes me think that the cable guys are having network issues (again). I don't have any good tools (I retired and gave the stuff up) to do any real network diagnosis but I did send a feedback to the DVCMember folks. We'll see what they have to say.

At any rate, I'm going to do a cache reset on all machines and see what happens. An update....I just got her a new Macbook Pro a couple of weeks ago. I will check software again for any patches, etc.

What is interesting is that we both are having trouble (her's is a new MBP, mine is a year old) but both are on the same software level (10.6.7) and the same browser levels. What I'm puzzled by is that a virtual guest (VMWare Fusion with a Windows XP guest) works fine. That tends to make me think it's an interaction between the coding of the web site and the OSX systems. I've seen that before and it usually is attributable to either browser-unique coding or a lazy programmer. The fact that it works ok with yours eliminates the browser-unique issue so that leaves network issues that well could be local stuff. In-house network traffic seems to work fine. External traffic, depending on where it goes will either work ok or be slow as well.

Thanks for checking the site from your end. It seemed really bad when looking at contract points. I know from having worked on that kind of thing that anything going on in the hosting site can cause delays at this end. I have to wonder if, that between network issues here, and stuff going on at the hosting site, this may well resolve based on time of day.

Well it sounds like you really understand what might be going on. That's a good idea to report it to member satisfaction. Hopefully it will get fixed soon.
