DVC Y when I should not have it

Hi, I just purchased a resale listing. I’m at associate on my mothers account (not on deed). I don’t believe I should have dvc y but do. Anyone had this happen? How long did it last? 😅

Probably a dumb question but how does one know if they are a DVC Y member? Are the membership ID numbers slightly different? Like, for instance, my DVC ID# shows up under "memberships & passes" on the MDE app, but how would someone be able to tell if that ID# is DVC Y or not?

I have my membership linked to my Google Wallet. When I tap on the three-dot menu at the top, it opens another info page with "Affiliations DVC Y" listed there.

I just solved my own riddle lol. I always just accessed my apple wallet by double-clicking my side button. I never saw where mine said ND in my Apple Wallet, it never said anything, just had my digital park pass in there, but, again that's with having always accessed the wallet through the double-click shortcut. Now, if I access my wallet through the apps icon, it then give me the little information circle up top, and it indeed says ND after clicking on the info circle.

MDE doesn't know about the associate member status. Since you obviously have a DVC log on under your mothers membership, you will have DVC Y since her membership is eligible for membership extras.

I'm also an associate member and I don't own any contracts on my own. I also have DVC Y and it's been there since they rolled out the DVC affiliation on the Disney MagicMobile Pass.

Thanks - interesting. Are you able to get into lounges, buy sorcerer pass, etc?

Never tried the lounges as I'm always with the actual member. Not sure it would work as the check in system they use would likely identify you as not directly eligible (either being an associate or your resale contract).

As for APs, we are FL Residents.

Another possibility is that your resale deed was structured like a gratuitous transfer. My in-laws first resale purchase was like that and now they are listed in the Disney system as owning since 1995 even though they bought it in the late 2000s.

I don't think I'd bring it up to MS and just see how long it lasts. You could also try and purchase a Sorcerer Pass as I think you need to qualify to even progress to the point of entering payment information.

Loose lips sink ships.

I have a similar situation with another timeshare---I have some benefits I'm not entitled to. During the purchase process I was asked directly whether I qualified, and I responded "no" truthfully. They still got it wrong. They also got the annual fees wrong---they were too low, and by a lot. I tried to correct the fees with them twice, and was assured both times that the lower (incorrect) number was correct.

They did eventually get around to fixing the fees. They still haven't fixed the benefits. I figure one day I will log in and they won't be there, and that will be fine, because I am not entitled to them.
