I think there's likely a decent intersection of DVC owners and RunDisney participants, so here's a thread to get to know our fellow DVC-rDers from the Dis 😁

Some questions to kickstart things, feel free to discuss any/all that tickle your fancy!
---‐

**What's your next race coming up/what are you currently training for?
**Are you an occasional participant or do you race every year?
**What weekend is a don't-miss for you?
**What is the next race you're hoping to register for?
**Does your whole family runDisney or do they just come along to support you? **Which resort is your favorite to stay at for a race weekend?
**What's your favorite on-property pre-race meal?
**Did you start runDisney before or after joining DVC?
**Does runDisney have a big impact on the number of points you have or how you use them?

Neat topic! We are new DVC owners and have run all the WDW marathons since 2012 (and my wife has run every Dopey 😎)

Has anyone stayed at The Riviera during Marathon Weekend? If so, what is the race bus situation?
That's awesome! I did the marathon back in 2008 and then returned to RD with WnD 2022 and several races since then including Dopey 2023 and now training for WnD 2024/Dopey+Princess 2025!

We are new DVC owners as well, we actually joined at the end of June after taking the tour during our trip for Springtime Surprise in April (that $200 gift card offer sure paid off for them lmao). We stayed at Riviera for Springtime and were very happy with the buses. No complaints at all. We'll be staying there again for Princess weekend (and would have booked for Marathon, except that by the time we became members I guess it was too late into the booking window and they just couldn't find us availability, even though it was our Welcome Home trip).

Thanks for starting this thread! I’ll follow on behalf of DD, who’s the runner in the family.

However, I’m proud to say that DD, DSiL, DH and I did the 5K in 2017. They ran, DH and I walked. They were signed up for the half, but it was cancelled due to thunderstorms, so they did the W&D half that year instead. DD has done some other runDisney races since then, and in 2025 she’ll do her bucket list WDW Marathon. I’d love to do another 5K, but for various reasons my racing days are over, even as lenient as Disney is with times.

Great thread!

Next race are just all the Disneys. Contemplating doing a charity for NYC or London marathon next year. Last not Disney was Chicago. I'm almost perfectly Goofy. I do Dopey now. Marathon weekend is the don't miss.

Next race I hope to register for is London or NYC. I'm the only runner.

Poly is my race resort. DH bought there as a surprise for me so I wouldn't have to get up so early for the Goofy. However, I stay at AKL (or my other new home resort of the Cabins) or somewhere else for races where the monorail isn't a priority. We just did an add on at the Poly because DH bought me Club RunDisney for mother's day a couple of years ago, and I used it as an excuse to sign up for all the races. Thus, we needed points. . . Yes, he is a very good man.

Favorite pre-race meal? I tend to eat at Captain Cooks by default. French fries and pizza :-)

I agree there is a lot of rundisney/DVC overlap!

Our (DH and me) next rD event is Marathon Weekend. It is our only must to race weekend there. We’ve done all the WDW weekends at least once. After doing Dopey in 2023 and “Goofy” this year, I am happy to say we’re only doing the half marathon this coming year. I am looking forward to cheering rapt the marathon!

We always stay at BRV for MW and splurge on a 1bedroom. I love the vibe there for race weekend. There aren’t so many runners there but enough that you get talking to them, often times in the BRV hot tub!

My favorite post race meal is at Steakhouse 71. Either breakfast after a 5/10k or lunch after a half/marathon. Love that burger and the fig cocktail!

Love the rundisney community!

We’re very new to the runDisney scene…actually both runDisney and DVC scenes lol

My sister and I signed up for the our first race ever- the 10k for marathon weekend and I’m soooo tempted by the 5k + 10k during Princess weekend (Mulan and Jasmine and VILLAINS??😱) but as complete non-runners, we should probably start with one to see if we love it or not before we sign up for more lol

I know nothing about pre and post race meals but I’m looking forward to figuring it out lol

Also, we’re at VGF for this race but hoping to switch the Poly tower if we’re able to! If not, it’s still the Grand so excited

Love this thread!
I had DVC before starting with this new addiction (RunDisney)….

So now I have added points considering the races at DL (!)… I’m still jumping to different resorts to figure which is my favorite to add a bit more :)

I have done BLT/PVB/VGF (I love MK fireworks)… which I have enjoyed!! … next January I will do BRV… and maybe RIV at Springtime…

Some days I think I should prioritize the distance to Epcot/parking lot especially after the races … but also to balance how to spend the days after… so… I have a good excuse to keep “researching” LOL

Fantastic thread, I love it!

DH and I are the runners in our family (DS is 22 but does more weight lifting, less running). We are running the CRIM 10 Miler in August and the Detroit Free Press Marathon/Half Marathon this fall. We will do the January Half (staying at one of our home resorts, the GF, which we love for race weekend). And then, our must do race weekend is always Princess. It's my hands down favorite and if Jasmine is headlining a race, we gotta be there! 🤣 💜 We have been doing RunDisney since 2016.

We have been DVC members since 2000 and yes, we pretty use most of our points for the January races and Princess week. We do like an occasional trip in May. We don't do other race weekends, as we love to run in our beautiful home state of MI and other parts of the country. If you are running princess weekend, hope to meet you and others at the meet up at Hurricane Hannahs! :-)

Thanks for starting this!

I'm a long-time runner, but haven't done runDisney (yet). I've done several half marathons (when I was younger), several 10Ks, and a few 5Ks. Never have run a full marathon, and don't want to :D

I definitely prefer the 5-10 mile range these days, and getting closer to the lower end of that range every year.

No races planned currently. Have not really gotten back into that post Covid. But I would love to do a runDisney race soon!

**What's your next race coming up/what are you currently training for? Next race: Wine and Dine 5K, Actually training for: Dopey Challenge (#6 for me)

**Are you an occasional participant or do you race every year? I try to do marathon weekend every year as it supports LLS which is a cause near to my heart. I usually do at least one race that weekend with TNT

**What weekend is a don't-miss for you? Marathon Weekend

**What is the next race you're hoping to register for? Dopey Challenge 2026

**Does your whole family runDisney or do they just come along to support you? **Which resort is your favorite to stay at for a race weekend? I usually travel solo or meet up with other runner friends. I like Wilderness Lodge for reliable basic food options I crave during race weekend and I like VGF for the resort studios when sharing accommodations with other runners.

**What's your favorite on-property pre-race meal? Night before the marathon: Cheese Flatbread, breadsticks, and a side caesar from Pinocchio's

**Did you start runDisney before or after joining DVC? Before

**Does runDisney have a big impact on the number of points you have or how you use them? It is the reason I bought points :)

We did our first race (5k) at w&d last year (husband, me and 2 tween girls). We are doing w&d again this year - all of us in the 5k and me and my oldest in the 10k.

Hopefully to get the princess 10k for me and my oldest. And then she wants to do the half at w&d 2025 because she’ll be juuuuust old enough.

Long time runner (but have never done a runDisney event outside of some virtual races during Covid).

Used to run primarily longer distances (full and half marathons) but now focus more on 1/2 and 10ks due to lack of time to train properly!!

New to DVC and recently purchased RIV FW44 to hopefully make my way down for Wine & Dine one of these years!

Until then, love living vicariously through all who have races on the books!! :earsboy:

I hoping runDisney will give me the incentive I need to get back in to doing races. I thought my fitness level was much better when I was doing races regularly. Or it could just be old age.

I'm targeting 2026 as the year to do a runDisney event, but I'm not sure which one at this point.

Love DVC and runDisney, which is just a match made in Disney heaven!

**What's your next race coming up/what are you currently training for? Training for Wine and Dine. I'm doing all 3 races!
**Are you an occasional participant or do you race every year? I've been doing one race per season since 2021
**What weekend is a don't-miss for you? I've really enjoyed MW, but I'm skipping it this season. I'm curious if I'm going to end up missing it and it turns into a don't miss for us
**What is the next race you're hoping to register for? I'm talking to another Disney loving friend about maybe registering for Princess Weekend as a girls only trip
**Does your whole family runDisney or do they just come along to support you? My 6 year old is going to be running his 3rd 5k with me this year. My husband will join when we can convince family to come along and watch our boys.
**Which resort is your favorite to stay at for a race weekend? We like BWV/BCV for Wine and Dine and BLT for MW. Haven't done any of the other weekends.
**Did you start runDisney before or after joining DVC? Technically before - first race was the inaugural Disneyland Paris half, but only really got into it right after joining DVC and having extra points from covid to use up
**Does runDisney have a big impact on the number of points you have or how you use them? BIG YES. We originally bought points for trips every year and a half in a studio. After our first runDisney weekend, we decided we wanted that to be a yearly thing, and we needed a 1 bedroom, so we added on 220pts at BLT. THEN we decided it'd be nice to have BWV as a home resort for Wine and Dine, so we added on there as well.

Oh the RunDisney Community is very strong!

What's your next race coming up/what are you currently training for? Wine and Dine and Dopey

**Are you an occasional participant or do you race every year? Twice a year

**What weekend is a don't-miss for you?
Marathon Weekend

**What is the next race you're hoping to register for?
Princess maybe?

**Does your whole family runDisney or do they just come along to support you?
There’s at least 2 of us and as many as 5 every race.

**Which resort is your favorite to stay at for a race weekend?
They are all fantastic! Maybe BWV for W&D and CCV or AKL for MW

**What's your favorite on-property pre-race meal?
That’s always different and love them all. The bread service at Kidani was good, and Wilderness lodge skillets helped motor us along

**Did you start runDisney before or after joining DVC?
After. Did a charity run for Noah’s Light, Now Dragon, after our own 4 year old son recovered from brain cancer. Now a 22 year old beast. All is good!

**Does runDisney have a big impact on the number of points you have or how you use them?
Yes, because we need points to go!
