SO I've scoured (well looked around a bit) on the site and can't find any info on the deluxe dining plan without the purchase of a Magic your way package. I'll be staying at SSR for 10 days next OCt and I'm looking at the different dining options. I know that the standard DDP is available for 38$ or so for each adult.

The Deluxe plan appeals because we like signature dining a lot, character dining and we plan on taking in a dinner show at the Poly, also there will be 8 of us so we want to do one of the Grand Gatherings which I believe is also included with the Deluxe plan. And lets not forget the refillable mugs are also included :rotfl: (a huge selling point with the family by the way:confused3 ).

Do any of you have any info about the dining plan upgrade, what the cost might be and your experiences with the Deluxe plan, or is this something they're just starting. Last time we had DDP for free and it was the basic with gratuity included. I'm still kinda chapped that the tip is no longer part of the plan, and no appetizer WHAT is that about? But I digress.

Any thoughts, comments.... wild speculations?

Of course you can - several of us have already posted about this in multiple threads - sometimes the search function is a bit wacky. We added it to our ressie the day it became available (several months ago). As DVC members we can add the regular, deluxe or wine package to our ressie:

- $69.99/adult/night and $19.99/children 3-9.
- 3 meal credits & 2 snacks per day, plus mug (credits can be used for TS, CS or combo of both)
- It is brand new for '08, so no one has tried it yet, but the biggest change between the regular and deluxe is that appetizers are included
- Tips are not included in any of the meal plans.

Happy eating, Tiger :)

Thanks for the feedback, 70$ might be a deal breaker for the parents of the 2 10 year olds in the group, there is no way they can justify $700 each ...they are somewhat picky eaters and really don't each very much anyway. Rats if only they were 9. We all have to be on the same dining plan is that correct? We are all sharing a grand villa so i think this is the case.

Yes, all people sharing the same room, must be on the plan for the entire trip. You do have to seriously look at the eating habits of the 10 year olds, as they are classified as adults in Disney's eyes, regardless of whether they eat like adults or not.

Another option is getting a DDE card (for AP or Florida residents only) for $65.00/year, which will get you 20% off of meals/alcohol. Do a search for more info as DDE has blackout dates, and some restaurants like Teppan Edo in Japan for instance don't accept it, but it may help. You will get a 20% discount for up to 8 people in your party, I think? I'll get that info for sure, as my DDE card is downstairs at the moment.

Good luck in your decision, Tina :)
