We signed up to DVC last August and we are looking forward to our first visit this summer. We have since spoken to friends who joined DVC and they say they received meal vouchers as a kind of welcome. We received nothing. I have also read that visitors may receive vouchers for breakfast just for looking round. What have other members received? Should I contact Disney or does it look like I want something for nothing? Thanks for your help. This is my first post!

Never heard of anyone getting anything other than a hearty "Welcome home" on their first trip. We got free ice cream sundaes when we did the tour, and some got meal vouchers at that time, or even fast passes, but not on a first trip "home".

Thanks for the post. Sorry if I was not specific with my information: I meant, should I say that we received nothing when we visited and signed up last year?

We signed up in March of 92, and took our first trip later that year. On our first trip, and our next 20, we got free admission to the theme parks for everyone in our party!

I don't think they do that anymore. ;)

Okay, I understand now. In that case...We got an ice cream sundae!

I bought through two different timeshare resalers-one, I got the backpack, waterglobe, passporter, lisc. plate holder and a pin, the other resaler, nada, nothing, not even a thanks.

we just signed up through the F&F and recieved a huge tote bag with our paper work.

:thumbsup2 When my brother-in-law joined via SSR last year, they gave him 3 or 4 meal vouchers at the time. This was done right at the welcome center at SSR and I was with him. He did buy 387 points tho. Good luck getting that now. I think it is just something they remember or forget to do during the presentation. Also ice cream all around.

We did an add on last year at SSR. We received to vouchers for 2 annual passes to cash in when we want. It was a promotion they were doing at the time. Not a bad deal! :teeth:

When we visited and ultimately bought, we received several fast passes. We also got ice cream if that counts for anything.:sunny:

We bought with out ever doing the tour (but we had been to WDW many times, we just didn't take the time when at WDW.) Anyway because of this we never got the dinner vouchers. When I called my guide she had them droped off at the DVC office (at that time on Boardwalk.) So we did get them after the fact (but we kind of requested them. ;) ) They were the quick and causual kind, conter service or B&C.

When we joined we also got a back pack (blue with a sudo leather top, and a zipper on the side) with our paper work, along with a lithograph of VWL (where we own.)

We took the tour on Jan 24 in the evening and our guide gave us a $50 shopping and dining gift card. We totally weren't expecting it and that made it super special. We did end up signing up but that wasn't until the 30th.

Oh yeah... we also got the sundae! :hippie:

I'm not sure how the rules of this site work, but is there one reseller you could, um, recommend?

we got a $50 gift card just for taking the tour. We had three different couples in our party, so we all signed up seperatly with our individual addresses and recieved 3 $50 giftcards.

When I recieved my paperwork to sign I also got a canvas tote bag.

Ditto...and got ice cream when we toured last month... :woohoo:

I got the $50 gift card which was amazing! Still have half of it tho, couldn't spend it all in one place at the end of the trip. LOL

But I also got free childcare for that hour on the tour, which was fabulous because I had just spent an entire 3 weeks alone with DS. He's a sweetie and all but after three weeks it was nice to talk to an adult! :D

And the free ice cream. that was yummy.

Mmm - well I'm now beginning to feel ripped off. We had a dinner reserved at California Grill, which as you know they charge you for. My guide took a long time, due to talking to others in the corridor, as he went back and forth to get the things he needed for our add on. We missed the dinner, resulting in us having to pay a penalty, and all we got was the lousy tote bag. I didn't like to complain at the time tho - i was just so excited about our add on.
