Just looking to see if anyone else had some info on this....I have a reservation at Xmas that goes into the beginning of January 2007. Last week when I booked it, I added on the DDP without a problem. Since then, my contract was rewritten because we decided to add more points; when MS transferred the reservation yesterday, they called and left a message saying they could not book DDP onto my vacation because they had not decided on prices yet for DDP in 2007. I was surprised, since no mention was made last week when I made the booking, so I called this morning to confirm and MS said, sorry, nope, they couldn't add it on because Disney was still deciding on prices and if to continue DDP, and so I would have to keep checking to add it on when and if they decide on prices.

Has anyone else had this occur to them? I was just surprised that nothing was said last week when I booked it and they gave me a total for it, etc. Anyone have info as to when Disney will decide on prices?

Thanks!

It was proabably a recent development.

I suspect they are reviewing if DDP will continue at all. This was a temporary program at the start, and maybe it's time has run out.

With the popularity of the dining plan I would be really surprised if they did discontinue it. I just suspect its because of they haven't determined the price yet.

I need to add it on to honeymoon res. for DS in Jan.

Two different CM I spoke to indicated that they will offer it probably beginning in August/September & to keep checking back.

I questioned as to ability to pre-pay & was told they were working on this option, as well as adding on park tix.

Wouldn't surprise me if they either require proof of AP/PAP or a 1 day MYW tix purchase (in line w/resort requirements).

I am surprised they don't know the pricing or if it will be still offered, given that DDP just started for DVC and most of pricing for accomodations and so on are published for 2007.

Call MS again talk to someone else. Or why bother? Wait until last minute to add. You can add DDP any time prior of arriving, if they decide to continue to offer DDP to DVC.

Good luck...

I doubt very much that DDP is going anywhere. WDW has always offered a dining plan of one type or another. DDP is a almost a year and a half old now although of course it is new for DVC.

Anyway, we used to do the Gold plan many years ago when we only visited once/year. Package prices came out fairly late in the year as I recall. Since with the exception of DVC, the DDP is part of a package, it doesn't surprise me at all that the prices haven't been set yet. The way it used to work is that we would pay one night's lodging at the current years price until the plan prices were set.

I wouldn't worry about it. Just call back closer to the time of your trip and add it.

I was told that prices will go up at the beginning of next year, so I just assumed that DDP would still be an option.

One a similar note, I saw on the DVC website that several (two, I think) character dinners will be moving from table service to signature dining on Feb. 1, 2007. The information is on their PDF file under the DDP information. Seeing that they made those 2007 changes and updated the information in the DVC section, I also assumed that DDP would still be available.

My guess is that it will stay around and be raised from $37.99 to $42.99.

I doubt seriously that anything this successful will go away, but that price seems pretty high. I did an analysis of our usage -- not compared to what the Disney receipts say we saved, but compared to what we would have spent without DDP -- and we only "saved" about $70 in a 5-day stay. Don't get me wrong -- I liked DDP, but I wouldn't get it for that price.

I'd be looking for a modest increase. Actually, I'd be looking for $38.99 and maybe $12.99 for kids. $39.99 is too much like $40 per person per day, and that's a lot.

Good grief, I hope the character meals go to 2 based on where they are located. Of course we go for the characters, but some of the food is flat out lousy.

$42.99 sounds like a pretty educated "guess", but I hope you're wrong. I think I might stick to the DDE card rather than go with that kind of pricing.

What was it last year? $35 or $35.99?

I was just looking on disneyworld.com, they don't have package prices out for next year, just room only.

hmm.. which two character meals are you referring to? I opened the pdf and it is still showing the 2006 changes.

The DP was $34.99 last year so it's possible it will go up again in 2007.

So I would expect it to go up at least $3.00 for next year.

My mistake...you are right. It says 2006 changes. I hadn't seen the red modifications before and thought that was new.
