Personally I have never done the DVC trip insurance. I remember looking into it once and couldn’t make much sense of it. I did have to leave in the middle of a trip once due to a family tragedy and DVC was kind enough to put back my lost points with no holds. They could see from my “file” that I did not have a history of trying to take advantage. There was also a couple of times when I missed a banking deadline by a couple of days, and they let me bank anyway. Not talking a huge amount of points for banking...lol usually in borrowing mode.
I am expecting that those “exceptions to the rules” days are over. I don’t think they will be bending the rules to accommodate our memory lapses or trips cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances any more. My question is...if you have used the trip insurance, was it worth it if you had to use it? And what happens with your points? If I recall correctly, when I looked into it it really didn’t help with points.
If anyone can point me in the right direction to a thread that discusses this, I’d appreciate it. And we all better set up reminders for our banking deadlines. I’m making a special calendar with all my banking dates.
