Since the property is in Florida, Can we put the timeshare in just my DH's name? I called and our guide is out until Thursday and the lady on the phone did not know the answer. Anyone know the answer? Thanks :wave2:

I think you can just put DVC in dh's name. My mom just bought, and she was wondering whether to put it in just her name, or both (she opted for both). I think the catch is...it STILL belongs to both of you, even if just one person is on the deed, if it was purchased after you were married.

For management purposes tho, I think I'd recommend having both members of the couple on the deed. That way you can make reservations, bank points and all that stuff. I just think it's safer and easier to have both of you on there.

Good luck!

I agree that both of your names should be on the deed but to answer your question, yes. I asked my guide this exact question when we purchased. According to the Florida law, in the event of deed holder's death, the DVC interest will be passed onto the surviving spouse. Now, don't ask me what happens if there is no surviving spouse but I guess that why we have Wills.

I talked to our guide and my DH can be the only one on the deed. I will be listed as an associate and can still make reservations, transfer points etc. Thanks for the help... We are getting closer to finalizing our deal ....

Even though Texas is community property state, you do not have to put spouse on deeds for anything you purchase. It is your choice and mainly has to do with income and credit for loan approvals.

But, being a community property state, just because one name is on the deed, if money from community property was used to purchase any item, it is considered community property regardless of whose name is on the deed.
