DVC taking all BCV summer days

So I have been looking on and off and randomly look at BCV at times as I saw random 2BR days at various times during the summer. As of yesterday every single one of those days disappeared in to the end of September.

I thought it was fairly interesting as most of the days were truly stand alone. The only alternative I can think of is a Orlando local who possibly booked it up as an alternative to a water park.

We have a house in FL and have DVC and book up single random nights so we can go and do Epcot booths (drink) or DS (drink) and stay overnight to not drive after drinks. We do BWV (studios) and AKV (club) and SSR (studios) typically. Also grabbed solo night at RR in the tower studio. We have 2 goals...point saver studios as one (specifically near Epcot or DS) and then club level at AKV. Plus AKV is the closest WDW address to our home so that's a plus too. Anyway, sorry I rambled. But could be other locals grabbing. Or waitlists coming through. Not a shocker.

I have been booking BCV studios since the 7 month window opened, currently I have:
2 nights in June
1 night in July
3 nights in August
All are separate one night stays.
We are doing something different each stay. If another night comes available I will grab it too.

You might be the reason then hahaha

I just thought it was really interesting a bunch of solo random days disappeared pretty much in unison.

Yeah, I just had a random night waitlist at BCV come through in May. It surprised me! So, it’s possible that some waitlists were finally matched.

I still am bewildered by the waitlist.

I also see why people own at BCV, you need that advantage.

I actually feel like DVC is either struggling with loading inventory or has gotten very flippant in estimating breakage and trades. And in the case of VWL just keeps changing the inventory as they push out the refurb over and over and over again.

Checkout my thread:
I have gotten four BCV waitlists come through in the past week:

Yeah, I had 2 waitlist dates come through and nabbed 3 nights at BCV studio about 60 days out. Waitlists work!

It's definitely easier to book BCV >7 months out. Especially during popular times such as fall or early December.
This is true, even for summer. We have 2 reservations in July, booked 9 months out without a problem. looked for different options about 7 months out and there wasn't much of anything available. Looked to add a couple more days, about 5 months out, and like was said above, nothing but waitlist.

Currently at BCV, booked 6 nights at 7 months. Will be back July/August for a 7 day stay… combination of booking at 7 months and stalking.

Neither is an easy score so I consider myself lucky. But it can be done… with a boatload of persistence and patience.

I don't think they're taking much breakage at all, given the points glut.

Logically that should be true. But availability had tightened up even prior to the pandemic and yet every association has always met their breakage quota. Since they are allowed to estimate breakage vs wait for it to actually occur I don't think we really can assume they've updated their historical numbers it should be based on. Even before this time I've wondered if they were off on what they pulled for breakage.

I think members tend to under-appreciate how closely timeshares are regulated and audited. It would be very difficult for them to pull off any kind of funny business.

Time share regulation varies by state. Florida is a huge timeshare area but it is my belief that the regulations tend to favor the developers versus the buyers. It may be different in California.

We've all witnessed funny business with regard to the point charts, so I have no problem believing that breakage could be managed in favor of DVD.

The alleged funny business with the points charts was not funny business and Disney should be doing more of it. The points charts are broken and every time they try to fix it, the membership has a temper tantrum.

Well, then corporations and individuals would never need to fix things done incorrectly for years and years. Just look at DVC not providing property tax credits to resale buyers for several years as one of the more recent done by DVC.

Audits of financial record keeping will be done - and paid for by DVC BTW - but digging into breakage calculations? I'm happy to be surprised that is audited but doubt I would end up being surprised.
