DVC Studios vs Deluxe Disney hotels?

How does the quality of studios at DVC compare to standard rooms at Deluxe Disney hotels, like Poly, Contemporary, GF?

We've only used the 2BRs.

The studio we had at BWV had a full bath, a pull-out sleep sofa, a queen bed, and a mini-kitchen.
The room we had at the Contempory had 2 queen beds and a day bed. There was room for 5, not so with a studio or 1 BR at DVC. The mini-kitchen was a plus for DVC.

In comaprision to those hotels, my answer would be no. I've stayed at all those places, as well as a stay at BCV in a studio and the studio was VERY cramped in comparision to any of those hotels. I've also stayed at YC, and that room felt more spacious to me, than the studio. It seems that the way the bathroom is set up with the closet, and kitchenette, it's like you lose around 3 to 4 ft of room length in the main area. It seems smaller, at least to me. Also, with the cramped quarters, the lack of maid service is really noticable. It gets cluttered very quickly, especially there being 4 of us in the room. With two people, I think the studio wins hands down, but any more, the regular room wins. I've never stayed or seen a studio at OKW, so I can't comment there. But with the studios at BWV, VWL and SSR being the same as BCV, I personally will never stay in a studio again.

If you have used the 2 bedrooms at any DVC resort, you will know what the studio is like also, since the second bedroom is a studio for most with the exception of the dedicated 2 bedrooms at OKW, and they are still very similar. I think the standard rooms at the deluxe resorts are appointed nicely, but lact the space to be truely deluxe. I was especially dissapointed in the WL standard rooms. Even AKL standard rooms, while appointed nicely just don't seem like much after our 2 bedroom digs at OKW. I sure would like that Savanah view all the time though!
