DVC studios laundry free for DVC members?

Most laundry areas have twice the number of dryers as washers. The AKV laundry (5th floor) has 2 washers and 4 dryers. The idea is to split your wash load in half and use 2 dryers, saving the time of having to run the dryer twice. Also, I don't know if mousekeeping put it there or some generous DVCer, but there was a big bottle of laundry detergent there. I brought my own, but it was nice to see it there, just in case.

My experience with hotel staff at various DVC resorts is that the location of the laundry rooms can be a mystery to them. So take note from this thread of the locations

at both OKW and SSR - they are near the pools. SSR has a table, OKW does not.

BWV (as say) on the first floor behind the elevators.

bcv fourth floor

VWL first floor behind the elevators

AKV fifth floor

at BWV, BCV, VWL and AKV - there is only one (at okw and ssr - there are several of them). but they do have the tables. these also have tv's. OKW and SSR did not have TV's.

generally 2 big washer, 4 smaller dryers - you are surpose to take your wash apart for the dryers.

all of the machine look like they will take coins and they do - much to the irritation of maintence. (they have to come and remove the coins or the machine won't work - once the coins collection is full)

there is one washing machine at SSR and AKV that does not have instructions (the one big) and certainly needs it - it does NOT work like the others. So I avoid that one if possible.

for some reasons that no ones knows - Disney has taken off the DVC laundry from the maps (except at OKW and SSR). So the front desk does not know these laundries exist.

my guess is to kept the resort other guests from using the free laundry mat. but they can do what they did at AKV -make it key only opening... It is very confusing to know that there is a laundry area and not able to find one because it isn't on the maps.
