DVC studios - fewer amenities

The dishes in a check in for a 1,2 or 3 bedroom (at least in my experience) are in the cabinets upon check in. I have never found dishes in the dishwasher. I am certain that Housekeeping comes in and loads the dishwasher, starts it and goes about cleaning the villa.
I assume the only dishes housekeeping will put in the dishwasher are those the previous guests left in the sink. When we get a 1BR, I assume that everything in the kitchen is just as it was left by the previous guests. I spot check a few plates, bowls and glasses and if they look clean then no problem. If they have bits of food stuck to them, I put everything we will use into the dishwasher.

Wow! How great is that? This must be for the benefit of 1BR and larger villas...seeing that they are not providing those fabulous disposable cups there *yet*... Probably added them to the grocery list because of the tremendous response they have received after providing them in the studios. Wouldn't want anyone to have to make do without them. And to think the lucky guests in the studios get them at no extra charge!

I was thinking more along the line that if you need more than the few they provide you, you will have to pay for them since we don't get daily housekeeping :confused3

...and another thing..if they are so worrried about sanitation they better change out all the sponges at every guest change out cleaning since sponges harbor more germs than any dish..
The whole thing is really just ludicrous

I think they already do this. We've always had a new sponge at check-in.

Hi Everyone,

We're actually at AKV in a studio now. We checked in Saturday, so today was our full cleaning day. When we checked in, there was only disposable dinnerware in the cabinets. Today after mousekeeping cleaned, we were left with 4 glasses as well as 4 mugs. Maybe it's just a coincidence?? :confused3

On a brighter note, the weather here has been wonderful. Nice and breezy, not too hot. The parks are crowded, but if you go early and use fast pass, it is very manageable. Having an awesome time!

Off to the Wilderness Lodge for dinner at Whispering Canyon. Will try to check in later if anyone has any questions.

That would be so wonderful, if that was that...all of a sudden we have mugs and glasses! Bobbi:goodvibes

Enjoy your Ketchup!

I think the idea of advising the Florida Dept of Environmental Protection and giving a scoop to the media is a great idea. Public pressure does wonders for changing policy.

I already did this. I felt that they should know that some of their "green" hotels were practicing some very un-green policies. Why should DVC be able to use the "green" designation in their publicity materials when they've decided to generate the amount of unncessary garbage with this policy?

If DVC cares so little about us that they can ignore the 3 e-mails I already sent, then I will get my point across another way.

This is where the balancing act begins. Now with all those glasses comes all that water and chemicals(soap) that has to be used to clean them, that water conservists will not like.

I really cant believe the up roar over this...where were all of you when alot of us were making alot of the same points about the ddp????...

Doesn't WDW have some sort of water reuse program? I think I read somewhere that they have their own wastewater treatment facilities and they use that water for things like irrigation.

I didn't make a commitment until 2042 to the dining plan - I did to DVC. We all make a personal choice prior to purchasing the DDP each trip whether it will work for us. The DVC villas, on the other hand, should not be down-graded after DVC gets our dollars.

Miss Toad...You missed my point...Think about it.....It is not the question of purchasing it...It is the EFFECT...

Hopefully this was DVC wide. I would not be surprised one bit if this goes out the same way it came in, without any official word about it. Than Todd can insist they were never ever taken out to begin with!:rotfl2:

Actually the changes to DDP were not nearly the same as this change. The changes to DDP were not new and will not ever be new. The DDP is a program of change that will forever be modified, tweaked and otherwise changed......DVC was not designed that way. The basics of DVC should not change, maybe just perks, etc.

The only similarity I could see would be the lack of promotion of the change. Although the DDP was advertised correctly, but maybe quietly. This was never addressed with the DVC membership in any form or fashion.

TisBit....Your argument is a good one but as far as WDW things change as your finding out..WDW can & will change just look what they have done in the DVC and the only thing that wont is what you bought... A room....So i think you are missing my point as most people do....I am just saying understand what there doing....taking away something you thought was with the room/apt you purchased and thats all....

I guess i should re-clarify were i am going with my posts...All DVC people that have contracts really dont have a say i guess on what WDW does on things like mugs or glasses or the ddp..now the people that spent the money on the DVC only really have a room or place to stay for probably a week or 2 at WDW per year....Most as we do love it and have a great time either if they stay at pop or the beach club...what is going on is the erosion of the world most of us and you have come to love and it sickens me to no end to see it..This is not about DVC vs Florida residents or people with familys from New Jersey or Iowa or Ohio..This is about what has happened in the last couple of years as far as quality / service and a commitment to those that have stuck by WDW and spent there hard earned dollars toward a place they felt was magic...And there is magic there still but sometimes like this issue for the DVCer's or the DDP for Florida residents... a little more seems to be lost with every stroke of the coperate pen....When will there no magic left to justify the expense???.......

So glad to hear you are having a good time! :thumbsup2

I am also wondering if this is some kind of mistake or a result of all the complaints. Guess we'll have to wait and see if anyone else checks in.
