Apologies if this has been posted, but I haven’t been keeping up on the boards as we are at BLT right now enjoying our Disney time. I just noticed a message on the DVC site sayin the site would be down July 17 @ 10:00 and would be back online on July 20 AND Member Services will be closed July 18 and 19.

Wow I originally goofed that post up with the months (in my defense I had just had a BLT waitlist come through for Dec. 19). Back to vacationing I go…..

No problem, I've done the same sort of post. You have a date in you head and that is so stuck there you use it by mistake.

Wonder if this is related to the rumored changes in the 2022 charts?

Maybe it’s going to take a lot to get it all updated? Very interesting for sure

At this point I just don't see how they can change it unless they change it by simply reducing point costs on certain rooms to eliminate the uplift in total points at the resorts.

I will be happy though if they do back track.

Plenty of dates you can move still. But for a 3 day downtime seems it has to be big.

Personally I think it might be a new system for taking advantage of DVC events and such. So you can book ticket discounts and possibly things like DCL through the website instead of needing to call.

Possibly do we even see the 2022 replacement of moonlight magic announced with this new system for booking?

The only booking date season not already used would be the Sept 1-19. If they made changes only to "future" booking dates not already 11 months out they would need to create additional seasons and add to the 7 seasons that already exist. I guess we will see fingers crossed.

There are dates starting June 11th to Aug 31st not yet booked. Nothing states that dates have to remain the same or in the same travel periods. I could see them moving however many dates in that timeframe they need to to accomplish a change.

But, I like your idea that the system will be upgraded to allow the purchase of membership perks and special items online!

There are dates starting June 11th to Aug 31st not yet booked.

Which would have started to be booked come July 17th. So that Summer/Fall season will need to be split up then in some capacity or change already booked reservations.

I was just saying that there is nothing that prevents them from moving dates not booked yet, So, just because June 11th to August 31st is one set of dates now doesn’t mean they could not make it June 20th instead. From what I read, they don’t have to adjust very many actual dates to bring points back to where some believe they should be.

But, I do think your other ideas make more sense that this could be a way to allow more types of booking online. How nice for it to be OTU points

This is something that has never happened before, -- an almost three day shutdown of basically everything, MS phone services and the website. Prior site shutdowns, even when making significant changes to the system, were usually at most a day and did not involve also closing MS. And it mentions nothing about an emergency back-up, e.g., what does someone do if, on July 18, they are 31 days from arrival and learn they have to cancel their reservation and need to do it immediately to avoid holding?

In any event, it must be something involving very major changes. Seriously doubt it is mainly changing the point charts. All you need to do on the website is add the new point charts, something that is usually done very quickly and has been done before.

So I am guessing it is something else that actually requires a lot of serious thought and work to modify, and substantial retraining of MS personnel. Probably they are adding a hundred new restrictions to resale purchasers.

Ooof my 7 month mark is July 18th and was looking to switch resorts. Won’t be mad if we are “stuck” at BLT but was looking to switch and make someone happy with a BLT standard room :)

Well, nobody will be able to switch at that point so you won’t be behind anybody else….you’ll just need to wait until the 20th and call and/or keep an eye on the website to come back up…..

It’s usually the first thing I do when I grab my phone while laying in bed in the morning…..I know the feeling.

Yeah, I of course have both a 7 month and an 11 month booking windows opening on July 18th. Going to be stalking to make sure I know when the site goes back up. Kind of seems wrong to shut down both the site and call center at the same time, but I guess we're all in the same boat.
