DVC Show begins the conversation! Yes!

I’ve read that the bed runner and decorative pillows tended to disappear mysteriously as time went on. Suspicion is that some of them went home in guests’ luggage. I’m not willing to subsidize their replacement via my dues - they’re high enough already.

It never crossed my mind to ever take those. The bed runners tend to be on the floor after about a night in the room.

It's a good show anyway I think. People miss different things about the villas and want them back. I just happened to agree with all the points mentioned and then some.

I think the runners and pillows were just removed because of the extra sanitizing for COVID. Not that it is mostly gone perhaps they will be back.

Maybe - but I think I remember reading posts complaining about their being missing prepandemic, as part of the “homogenization” of Disney resort decor. I could be wrong, though!

I remember these being there during 2019 stays.

Of all the things to ask for ... I wish they had more interactive polling with those on the boards before doing these types of shows (unless I missed it), but if the bed runners, pillows, mugs and in-room dining returned - have to admit - would not change my experience at all. I do think some of the ancillary points raised during the show like communications in particular and experience enhancers would be my focus:
  1. - Less marketing emails on how I can add points and more Regular updates on things that are of consequence - even use it as an opportunity to reinforce things coming back online (i.e. like Amy suggested on the refurb calendar)
  2. - Check-in acknowledgement or note in room, or during the stay, saying Welcome Home and glad your back (especially for more frequent guests) - I would even be ok with it on the TV - throw in some Mickey chocolates if it doesn't kill the budget - a little pixie dust that acknowledges my investment in DVC - first impressions are important
  3. - Rooms should be equipped with standard sets of glasses, cookware, flatware etc (even mugs) - there should be no reason that room to room stays are missing something - including bathroom and cleaning supplies - basic stuff
  4. - I had a split stay on my last visit at VGF and BLT - way different experiences in the lobbies - I get they are different room counts in each of the locations - but totally felt like I was on my own at VGF and not even acknowledged - far different than the feel at the main lobbies for VGF, Beach Club, BLT, and Boardwalk as examples
  5. Something in MDE besides in the profile that acknowledges my stay as a DVC Member - including things available to me in terms of extended hours and early entry (if its there, I am not seeing it)
  6. Drink Voucher(s), LLs, ILLs or something to prime the pump and even make me spend more money where I might not have done something extra as an experience at the resort or in the park
  7. Return APs/Discounts
  8. Dining Priority Seating for walk-ups or in ADRs / Enhancements
  9. ToTW Lounge Return - Lounge at Epcot was always at capacity - so not even sure of the value of that anymore
  10. As a Disney + Subscriber, Disney Card Holder, RunDisney Cub member, D23 Gold Member, and DVC Member - absolutely no connection between or value in having these products at all (I use the same email for all of them)

I heard the same thing. In 2018, we were assigned a room with no pillows. It had some major maintenance problems so we were moved. However, I overheard the manager and front desk staff bemoaning the fact that pillows go home with guests as "souvenirs" they add in their own homes.

When OKW first opened they had cloth placemats, cloth napkins and napkin rings. They sprouted legs and walked home with guests, and those that remained were removed.

Also the colored Fiesta dinner ware at BWV. The sugar and creamer set in particular.

They can bring them back and charge the guest if something is missing at check out. Also selling those stuff at the store at a cheaper price than fee if stolen.

Not that easy since the owner can say they weren’t there. You’d have to have an owner sign before hand or some sort of process.

Easier to simply leave out.

Or have a walk through with the owner before they check-in. And how many additional employees would that take, and what would that cost relative to any benefit to owners?

Just charge them and if the owner disputes it, you remove the charge. Not that difficult. It seems like every time I eat at the Boathouse, I get charged the no-show fee (yes, I check in when I arrive). When I call to dispute it, they don't ask for a receipt, they just remove the charge.

Yes! I agree with offering items from the room for sale, maybe a little shop next to check in. There's a lamp we love at one particular resort that I've gone to the front desk and begged to buy. DH and I kid about "How can we sneak this out of here?", knowing that in reality we wouldn't. But how often would someone like a souvenir just like their villa?
