DVC Safari Spectacular......Surprise Party?

We are going, too. This week be our first DVC special event. Any tips or typically what-to-expect? We will be arriving at 7. The CM who I spoke to in July when we got tickets said that some rides will be open and there will be complimentary 'refreshments'?

If they do the same as with the MK events, there will be CMs with tablets that will look up your name and then issue the party specific wristbands. You will need your new Blue DVC Member ID card & Photo ID.
I have the new ID card, but my wife has the old one. She has a reservation for Tues. Will she have difficulty getting in because of that? We'll be getting into SSR on Monday, can she get a new card then?

As mentioned she should do the digital card. They do not make cards onsite anymore.

WOW... so one needs to call to get a reservation even if the site states sold out or was this a "Magical Moment" with lots of pixie dust??

Tonight is the night! We plan on getting there right at 7pm. Probably won't stay too late unless something really exciting is going on.

So looking forward to see Hong how this event goes! We go later this month and interested is seeing what all they do. We went to the party last summer at the water park and it was tons of fun. I think my girls will want to ride the safari and Everest over and over again!

We're going later this month too and I'm so excited. This is the first time we've been able to take advantage of one of these events. I'm anxious to hear reviews and what others have to say.

We will be Periscoping the event live tonight. Feel free to follow along with us.

Our Periscope handle is@Robb_Walker.

We'll be on #PassTheCast at 9:30. Follow @LisaAWicks for updates as well. We're going to scope the safari right now.

Just left the Safari Spectacular.........AK is totally different at night. Much cooler and darker. Met member services personnel at gate who gave us a wrist band, a Kilamanjaro Safari Fastpass and two game tickets at Hester's and Chesters. There were several music talent groups in different area of park. Plenty of character meet and greets. We walked onto Expedition Everest. We chose not to get wet on Khali River. Plus, my back surgeon has made enough money off me, so, no primeval whirl! They had drink stations with ice water and lemonade. Assortment of cookies and ice cream from the carts. Not sure why they had small bags of Lays potato chips out. We did not see any DVC merchandise for sale. We met Ken Potrock. He was very nice and listened to our concerns about constantly getting the bums rush on checkout morning. Plus, I suggested revisiting the operating procedures from the 1996-2000 and compare them to today procedures. He would understand the frustrations of long term members. He listened and made no promises other than they are changing the time frames in which the resorts are being refurbished. They are refurbishing quicker than they initially planned so the rooms will be fresher. He was very nice and personable!

We arrived at 6:30pm and they started letting people in shortly after. The line for the bracelets is off to the right.

We immediately went to ride the safari. They already had the elephants put away so we didn't see them. Safari was a walk on at 7pm. The gorilla trail was closed.

If you want to avoid the crowds stay away from Dinoland. It was very busy. We did have fun playing the free games and walked away with 4 stuffed dinosaurs. The game CM's were getting a workout for sure! The face paint station was open while we were there.

We met Launchpad McQUack with a very short wait. He was meeting across from the drums in Africa. We also met Mickey and MInnie with no wait (their normal place) and Chip and Dale (very long wait) in Dinoland. Donald, Daisy and Pluto were at the dance party in Dinoland.

We also skipped Kali. Rode Everest 3 times (walk on) and triceratops spin. Tough to be a bug and Primevil Whirl were also open. NO shows were open.

We left just after 10:30. Probably could have stayed another hour but my parents were tired.

We were there last night. It was a great event. Animal Kingdom is really amazing at night. Lots of character meet and greets, lots of snack tables like PBB mentioned. The main center was in Dino Land. They had a DJ dance party and had the most snack tables up there. I really enjoyed the Safari at night. Not too many animals to see but it was a slower version. Driver made many stops to try and get better viewing positions. We also opted not to do Kali. We got soaked earlier in the day so did not want a repeat. All the other rides were walk ons. Kids did EE twice in a row. Only complaint I had which we did make known was the game tickets they give out they were letting kids use multiple tickets in a row while lines were super long. There was a big group of 10 plus so the had over 20 game coupons and their kids held up the line as they played over and over for about 20 minutes. I suggested to staff they limit use to 1 or 2 per turn then need to move to another game of go to back of the line. It took our 2 kids 45 minutes to play 3 games. Other than that minor issue we had a super night!! Today is sleep in day!! DHS arrival at 11am after a much needed rest after a long night!!
