is the procedure for requesting room location the same for DVC as requesting for regular rooms? Is the Touring Plans tool a good way to go?

Yes, but you are less likely to get what you want due to DVC resorts running at close to 100% occupancy. I asked for a high floor at BLT last summer, my only request, and ended up on the 6th floor. Of course I ended up loving that room so much that I want to specifically request it next time I go.

As long as we're on Kidani South trail, we'll be happy. So, I assume my request shouldn't be any more specific that that?

It has been reported that not all resorts will use TP faxes for room requests. It's best to have MS note your request on the reservation.

And if you don't own the points, the member who owns the points has to make the request for you.

What room may I ask did you love on the 6th floor? Headed there June 2018 and so few standard 2BRs that I’m trying to make a specific request. Thanks!

Also sometimes it seems like Touring Plans has ways of referring to parts of resorts that I've never heard of.

I don't know what the "South trail" of Kidani is, but perhaps this is a bad example because I never stayed there so I haven't paid much attention.

It was 7632, I believe. Not saying it is the only good room in BLT, not by a long shot, just that I was so pleased to be happy with a room that I initially was skeptical about. It was so peaceful waking up early and drinking coffee while watching boats coming in from WL, and then sitting out and watching the EWP in the late evening.

Here is a thread with all the room views. Do not expect to just ask for any one room and get it, but it should at least give you an idea of what to look forward to:

A few years ago, in the DVC magazine of the time, members were specifically requested by Member Services NOT to fax resorts with requests, and that all DVC requests should be noted on the reservation by member services.

If you have the person you are renting from place a room request on your reservations, DO NOT put in any request when doing online check-in. Online check-in over-rides anything put in by way of MS.
