It's what motivated me to buy the resale contracts on top of my original ones. I can stay all of January and February at my home resort, OKW, in a 1 bedroom villa. Yes, I would have to move for a day but I have another 100 points for that. Except now I live in FLA!Hi Everyone.
I was talking to my wife about how neat it would be to get enough points to stay a whole month on property when we retire. Does anyone else do this?
I just thought thought it would be great to get away from the cold and spend time just hanging out and enjoying the parks and atmosphere.
Aulani is our home resort and this is what we plan to do once my husband is retired, hopefully every January after the holidays. Right now we'd have enough points to stay up to 14-15 nights at that particular time of the year, depending on whether we went with a studio or a 1 bedroom every OTHER year. I'm hoping to pick up a resale contract in the next few years so we could get enough to do that every year, we shall seeWe have enough points at Aulani to do this when we retire and the kids are out of the house. We also met a few older couples at aulani who stay 3-4 weeks every year.
Thank you (and also thank you @Best Aunt)— I was hoping it was physically a storage locker somewhere in the WDW area with secured access—but I see it’s 3rd party delivery. I guess we don’t need Fort Knox type security for our magic bands, warm blankets, umbrellas, etc. I would be worried about some of the stuff you’ve mentioned breaking but it sounds like it’s working out OK?Owners locker is not Disney owned/disney run - here’s the Link. We’ve had ours since 2010. Not surprisingly we started with one and now have two. The service is great and once I saw them doing a drop off so I stopped to chat with him - very personable. Bell services will hold the lockers and bring them up/ take them back. Also if you are doing a split stay, they are treated just like luggage and moved for you.
Everyone uses them differently - some people use them so they don’t have to check luggage, other people keep work remote stuff in them (I saw one poster who kept a printer and monitor in theirs), but we use ours for comfort of home items. We have a nespresso plus pods, vodka, cognac, ice bucket, bath robe, slippers, special wine glasses and cocktail tumblers, good wine key, cutting boards, citrus squeezer, paring knife, pepper grinder, pizza cutter, DVC coffee mugs, DVC mug for pool, pool bag, collapsible laundry baskets, camping style clothes line, laundry pods, dishwasher pods, extra magic bands, first aid kit, a few DVC polos, 2 Disney throw blankets, extra charging cords/cables, left over non perishables. I’m probably forgetting stuff but you get the idea.
The lockers are decent size so they hold a fair amount of stuff and we are really spoiled by them. We miss having them when we are staying somewhere not Orlando!

We’ve had one for a year and have had it delivered and picked up 2x times so far, our July trip will be the 3rd time we use the service. We love it and have thought of getting a second already. It’s like a public storage or POD storage. They’re kept in a temp-controlled warehouse somewhere in the Orlando area. I think they say they don’t flip them over or store them in any way other than upright, so people who have more fragile/glass items won’t have to worry. They’ve been very efficient with delivery and pick up when they say they will and you get a text when it’s been returned to the warehouse. We’ve had no issues with Bell Services either.Thank you (and also thank you @Best Aunt)— I was hoping it was physically a storage locker somewhere in the WDW area with secured access—but I see it’s 3rd party delivery. Most of the glassware came in boxes which we kept to store them in. We also bought some packing materials (foam pouches and foam net sleeves) meant for glassware. We generally pack the lockers tightly so there’s not a lot of room for shifting. Maybe we’ve just been lucky but, knock on wood, we’ve never had anything break.I would be worried about some of the stuff you’ve mentioned breaking but it sounds like it’s working out OK?

We had to leave the lockers in the room once - we were leaving BCV at 430 am (or some equally ridiculous hour) and no one ever answered the bell services line (we tried every few minutes over the course of about half an hour and also were told at one point that bell services was closed). We ended up dealing with the luggage ourselves but had to leave the lockers, I spoke with the person at the front desk, and texted the OL people to let them know what happened. The lockers made it back just fine - we certainly would NOT recommend this strategy. And now we’re paranoid about not getting bell services in the future.I have read once or twice about people just leaving the locker in their room as they leave the hotel to go to the airport. I would never do that.
Don’t do that to yourself on vacation. We had to leave the lockers in the room once - we were leaving BCV at 430 am (or some equally ridiculous hour) and no one ever answered the bell services line (we tried every few minutes over the course of about half an hour and also were told at one point that bell services was closed). Yep, i posted their channel a while back, it is "Here with the Ears". It wasn't all DVC though, but it was all Disney. There's a guy on you tube who starts out his intro saying he and his wife stayed for a year in DVC. I never followed up to see how he did it or if he really did it. Home sick today so I'll look him up and see, if its worth sharing I'll share here if Im allowed.
