DVC Response About Ebay Commercial Sellers

Just checked the person I posted about above (from Redweek.com) and she has 9 listed as Deeds, 1 M (mortgage), 1 S (Satisfaction) and 1 Not (Notice of ROFR).

Just looked up that name on the OC comptroller site, name is not found.

That last last name was a typo.

It should be Paul and Linda Borgia not Gorgia.

Just looked up that name on the OC comptroller site, name is not found. I also looked up my own name and found out something interesting. My DW and I purchased 150 points at OKW earlier this year, our only contract. We are each listed twice on the search, once each with a D and once each with a NOT. Someone doing a search my think we own 4 times as many points as we actually do. The reason I bring this up is because if everyone is done this way, then the W families totals would also be multiplied by 4, still alot of points, but nothing like what we think. Anyone else care to check theirs and see if it matches mine. :confused3
When you do a search on that site, you can specify that you just want to see the deed entries by specifying "D" in the document type box. Now in that list you will get deeds where the person you searched for is either the "Grantor" or the "Grantee". I think there is an asterisk next to the ones where the person is question was the seller rather than the buyer.

So it's not too hard to separate out the deeds from everything else. And if you do that for the W family members, you will still find a lot of entries. You just have to look at the entries where they were the Grantors (marked with an *) so that you take into account any contracts that they have sold.

Thanks Lisa, I was sure there was something I was missing.

Thanks! :thumbsup2

I just want to add, that this is a very slippery slope about posting peoples info to "out them". This is going to get ugly and nasty FAST!

I do not agree with it all, even if I do not agree with some of the methodology.

As DVC owners, we all have info on that site, among other places, and who determines whose info should be "outed" and whose does not?

I definitely do not want a "pack mentality" making that decision about me. I'll take my chances with the Disney suits any day over a firing squad.

But if you feel so inclined, just spell my name right :rolleyes1

I think I have read the entire thread and here is my thoughts and many probably will disagree but that is life.

1. I have nothing against renters. They just want to enjoy Disney like they rest of us. If they can rent their points for $5 per point, more power to them, they got a great deal IMHO.

2. I don't think it is wrong to rents points out that you won't be able to use for whatever reason no matter if it is a broken toenail, just don't feel like going to WDW, or whatever.

2. I do think it is wrong to intentionally reserve a prime week that you know you as an owner will not use, and only reserve it for the sole reason of making money on it no matter if it is to pay for your dues, pay for college, whatever. When you do this you are possibly if not more then likely screwing over a fellow DVCer who could have used this time with their own points. To me it makes no difference if the person is a 100 point contract owner or a 100,000 point contract owner. This is not right. Twist it how or anyway you want, this is not what DVC was designed to do.

THIS IS MHO from a mere 200 Point Owner. YMMV.

Did you let DVC know how you feel.

Actually Sammie, I was going to email my guide this link for this thread and see what here thoughts were.

She has always been very open about our questions and would like to her here response.

I am also trying to find a email address to DVC Customer satisfaction and send them this link to this thread along with my take on the situation but I honestly have not found the VP's address and I know it has been posted on the DIS a million times.

Maybe someone would help me with it????

Point taken and sorry for the poor quality check. Just wondering, Liferbabe, if you are indeed "disdvcer" on E-Bay? One thing I am not going to do is apologize for is outting a commercial renter. I rent my points and I have no problem with people who rent their points. The problem I have is with people who rent prime season reservations before they even have a renter for profit. If DVC chooses to turn a blind eye then what can you do? Instead of getting nasty why not just enjoy all the free pub. :)

Y-ASK

Edit: After thinking about it for awhile maybe you're right about posting someone's name to the board. Being a shill like Mushpurple is different than being a commercial renter. All renters work with-in the limitations imposed by DVC and if DVC chooses not to impose stricter enforcement there's not much anyone can do about it. I will edit all post where I've list someone's name as such but I totally disagree with renting reservations.

I think you ( Y-ASK) and most of us are trying to be fair. We understand a lot of DVC do rent out some of their extra points. Even when the proper name of "proud to offer"( who has a couple of auctions up on ebay at the present time) was posted many posted this person did not have many points and seemed to be someone whom most would consider an occasional renter not a commercial renter.

Liferbabe if you only rent out your points once in while than don't stress over this.

If however you are one of the ones who is renting points to make a profit perhaps you may want to reconciler that your fellow DVCers are the ones who are being hurt when prime time vacations times are sold out.

JMHO

I looked up the Braunstein name on the Orange County Comptroller's records.

http://officialrecords.occompt.com/wb_or1/or_sch_1.asp

Almost 60 DVC recordings of various amounts of points were listed under Michelle's name.

Rosalind had about 40 and Richard had another 30 some listings.

It looks like there were lots of family members to transfer points from.

This whole family thing reminds me of a Dateline special I saw once on these people called something like Irish Travelers. They had this large extended family that ran all these intertwined businesses and scams. It was fascinating. Not saying these people are part of that, it just reminded me of it.

Thanks minnie61650. I'm always ready to listen to all sides of the issues and willing to admit when I'm wrong. Some may want to call me wishy-washy but I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing to change ones mind as long as it's not constantly changing back and forth. I try to keep an open mind about most things in life.

Did I mention that I love being a member of DVC and our trips to Disney? Some times it's too easy to jump in on the threads that are controversial. :)

I vote Yardsale. If anyone feels strong enough to contact Disney then that's their biz. I'll keep my opinions to the this thread and forum. No phone calls from me...

I agree with you. I only own 1 contract for 240 points and have never rented them, but I do like the option to do so. Disney created the problem by allowing people to buy large amounts of points, and multiple contracts. Disney got their money (profit), and that's what matters to them. Don't get mad at the renter, get mad at Disney for creating and allowing the system to work the way it does.

I agree Disney may be partly to blame but it is the schemers, the guests who look for every loophole they can find and take full advantage of said loopholes who are really to blame.

The schemers knew that what they were doing was clearly against POS rules.
They knew they were hurting the average DVC members by booking up prime time vacation rooms but they did it anyway.

So to me that is where most of the blame lies. It lies at the feet of those
who love to "game the system."

In this case they are hurting "you" not just Disney!

There is plenty of blame to go around especialy Disney for not fixing this sooner but to not blame the renter scammers is ludicrous.
