We are looking to buy an additional 210 points to add to our existing BWV Oct use year points. My question is, how important is it to have the same use year? We usually visit in October & have never had a problem booking the room we want in our home resort, but am I inviting trouble by settling for another use year? What about a month either side of this year? The more I think about it, the more my head feels like it will explode!!!

I would appreciate any input,

Thanks in advance,

Sallie

Sallie: Quick answer is that having the same use year definitely makes it easier to track your points, when they have to banked, etc. With that being said, there are lots of us who have multiple use years. There is software that a DVC member (Caskbill) has created (and it's free) that will help you track your points. This post will probably be moved to the DVC Community board where you'll get more response (plus the URL to download Caskbill's program)!

Thanks for your reply!
So, other than being a bit of a headache for me (I already have & use the Caskgill's calculator) will it make any difference to our chances of booking a 2 week stay at one resort using points from both accounts? I'm sorry to sound a bit "dense" but sometimes I can't see the wood for the trees!!!

Hello UK...sunny & cold here in Illinois. (Central U.S)

Try & do the same use year if possible. I suspect you will be able to find the points you need without much of a hassle. If you use DVC directly, or an outside company like the Timeshare store, I bet they get you the 210 points without too long a wait.

I think you just save yourself a lot of headaches from a point management stand-point.

Hi Sallieanne

I'm on the forum thinking of being across the Atlantic while we're just across the water in Kent.

It shouldn't be at all difficult to get an add on the same use year.
We bought one through the timeshare store recently but didn't save a great deal once we'd paid the bank to do cheques in US$ and paid another £30 each {deposit then balance} to FedEx them.
DVC did have BWV points available fairly recently and you can buy over the phone by Credit Card.

Good Luck
