Yup me again..tired of me yet? Just wondering if anyone has any Resale horror stories that I should watch out for?

I was completely paranoid as well, fearing writing a large check and finding out the money was being used to pay for a con artist's lavish lifestyle.

I bought a re-sale at BWM through the timeshare store, and it was very easy. From accepted offer to first reservation took about 6 weeks. I did ask lots of questions and received lots of good advice and reassurance.

Good luck if you decide to make the leap.

The only ones I know of aren't really "horror" stories, more like "slight inconvience" stories. Two happened to us...

1) Our first offer went out and took two days before the seller got back to the reseller and told her they decided not to sell. Not exactly a horror story, but one thing you should be aware of in buying resale is that the seller can back out.

2) Our second offer went through and we eventally closed. But it took a lot longer than we had anticipated. It was only a few weeks (three or so), but if you are in a hurry to close to make reservations, it can be not good.

We just completed a resale purchase at BWV, in fact I just overnited my documents and wired the funds this morning. Our whole process was very easy. I am not a patient person so waiting out ROFR was hard for me and it took 24 days. We used Shontell and Maggie at DVCbyResale. They were great!

None here. We purchased a resale for VWL in March through Jason @ the Timeshare Store. He was great. The whole process was smooth.

I would agree with the above - not so much "horror" as much as establishing realistic expectations.

The good timeshare brokers have "seen everything", so in most cases the time delays are driven by how fast the paper gets pushed around.

In particular, we purchased one contract from a seller who lived in South America, so that added some time. I guess everfy once in a while you find a seller who gets cold feet, and that can certainly be frustrating to a buyer (and the broker)

We just purchased resale and no horror story, but the extra wait is hard. We want to purchase a cruise with the banked points on the contract, I know there is availablity on the cruise because I called MS to check just last week. It's a case of trying to fit a cruise with a fall school schedule and I'm concerned that it will be booked by the time we can book, or only expensive cabins will be available. We were notified on Thursday April 29th by the title company that Disney has our name associated with these points. We were then told it could still take a week or 10 days until we can access the account. This seems very long to us. I have always considered myself to be a patient person, and I'm learning something new about myself!

PS. I'm waiting to make the cruise ressies before I change my countdown!

All together now.....

"the waiting is the hardest part".....

That was the worst part. Otherwise, everything was smooth and a dream......

I had a contract bought back by DVC, that's about the worst to expect.

Hi, I am new to this forum.

Just wonder if anyone bought from A Timeshare Broker (http://www.atimeshare.com) before? I am looking into buying around 350 to 400 points of OKW. Can someone give me some advise? I want to bring my mom and 2 kids on the cruise next year, idea how many points I will need?

Thanks in advance. :wave2:

No horror stories, but once I got caught in a dispute between the owners of a contract I wanted and Disney over dues. They refused to pay any of the dues that were owed, and Disney wouldn't let the contract go thru without payment. After waiting two months, I decided to look elsewhere for a contract.

I recently bought a contract from an agent that I had never heard of on this board, and I was worried about sending a check, too!! I got the contract, though recording thru Orange County is taking WAY too long. I have two contracts in process thru two different closing companies, and both are saying to expect a 4 week wait on recording of the deed.

As a seller, it couldn't have been easier than selling thru Timeshare Store. They were great!!:p

Sounds like they were paying by the month and Disney wanted full payment for the year, as they should have. My guess is they assumed you'd pay the extra dues and not them and that makes the dispute more between you and them as to WHO was paying the dues. I'm glad you stood your ground.

Cruelladeville,

They told you a month to have the deed recorded?

The closing service said 2 days to us.

They said they would wire our closing proceeds after the deed is recorded. I wonder if I should be expecting a longer wait.

I haven't bought a resale yet but I've heard nothing but raves about atimeshare. Anyway my only advice would be to buy multiple contracts for your 350 to 400. It's a little easier to sell the small ones than the big ones.
