Give me the good, the bad, and the ugly! Seriosly considering this option. I know about the mousekeeping, or should I say lack therof. Has anyone saved$?

We did it last year and stayed at the BCV and I cannot say anything negative at all!! I know that the major drawbacks are that it is non-refundable and the housekeeping issue but to be honest neither of those "drawbacks" bothered us. We knew that we were going no matter what so changing our plans was a non-issue and I really don't need housekeeping to come every day! Now the perks :cool1: you save major $$$$$, you get to stay in a deluxe for the about 1/2 the cost, we were close to Epcot and the boardwalk, the rooms are much nicer, you get a microwave, bar refrigerator and bar sink (thus saved $ by eating snacks and breakfast in the room), transportation (bus and boat) is much less crowded and nicer than say All Star resort buses. The pool is awesome and they treat you like family. Having had such a positive experience we feel that it is the only way to go for future trips. We did not use a DVC member from these boards but used someone off of Ebay. Looking back, we still probably payed even more $$ than if we had rented directly from a DVC member here. One word of caution - we have stayed at All Star Music and Carribean Beach and after having done the BCV there is NO WAY we can go back :teeth: Hope the info. helps!

DH and I saved big bucks by renting last year before we closed on our points. $140 a night on the Boardwalk was a great price for us: less than I could have gotten the Swan on a teacher discount with resort fees and taxes.

I don't know whether this is good or bad (probably depends on your financial situation) but once you stay in a DVC villa, you won't want to stay anywhere else! :) Plus, you'll find yourself thinking about buying into DVC.

The good: full kitchen, big bathroom, kids have separate bedroom (!!), amazing pool at BCV, proximity to Epcot and MGM (BVW and BCV)

The bad: weekend nights (Fri and Sat) are twice the cost of Sun-Thurs nights

That's "bad", especially after you're already a DVC member, all you want to do is to buy, buy, buy more and more add-ons!!!!

when you rent from a DVC member - you are renting a timeshares - timeshares on the whole do not have housekeeping.

that is biggest complaint from people who rent.

go post on the Disney resort board - for more bad reports.

this forum is sold on DVC!!!! LOVE IT!!!

Having rented my points out in the past, I did the math, and based on a studio room for a week, it roughly works out to be getting a Deluxe Resort room for the price of a Moderate.
