DVC referral incentive?

Can anyone tell me what the incentive is for an existing DVC member if they refer someone (gave DVC my name, address, phone #, etc.) and that person buy into the vacation club program? Do they receive "free" points, cash, etc?

The reason I ask is that a relative gave my personal information to DVC and they sent me a lot of information and a video along with the contact info for my relative's DVC guide. I don't have a real problem with this except for the fact that I previously requested this information from DVC on my own and have been considering a purchase for several weeks now. My relative has never been very forthright with my DVC questions in the past, so now I'm just curious what sparked his desire to have information sent to me.

There are only certain states that allow referrals.

ncligs, from these boards, has a complete list.

The first referral gets $200-can be used for dues or you can get it in Disney dollars-maybe one other thing.

Here is the list of states that allow referrals...........

Alabama,California,Delaware,Florida,GeorgiaHawaii,Idaho,Illinois,Iowa,Kansas,Louisianna,Maryland,Mass,Missisippi,Missouri,Nevada,New Hampshire,New Jersey,New Mexico,New York,North Dakota,Ohio,Rhode Island,South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

I was going to search for that list but I had to take my little boy to his first day of first grade.

If you had contacted DVC before he referred you he will likely get nothing. You have to mention his name and information the first time that you contact DVC or it is not considered a referral. After the fact the member gets no incentive. We've had a number of members complain about this because friends or family have contacted DVC in the past and chose not to buy. Then later after talking with the member they change their mind. The member still doesn't receive a reward even if the first contact was years ago.

Ihad posted this same question and was told the referral awards come in stages..first one get $200 Disney dollars, 2nd $350, 3rd $500, and so on.

My uncle just bought in after talking to me and stuff. He had the tour last year when he was there, but decided againt buying at that time. Now I convince him to do it and it seems I won't get anything from Disney. We'll see, the contact person is going to try to get something....I want the referral more for the fact that I am possibly going to get more from friends. Oh well...waiting to see what they do. My uncle did tell them that I was instrumental in him buying.
