DVC Purchase?

A lot of talk in here focused on the financials. For my family, it wasn't a financial decision, it was a lifestyle/what do we want for our kids growing up decision. When we stayed at the parks, it was almost exclusively at the Vistana, with one deluxe visit a year for my wife. Then we started doing Swan and Dolphin more with Marriott points. We researched into DVC not to save money (it's a lot more expensive than free stays at the Swan/Dolphin from work travel points or <300 per night at the Vistana), it was to give our family only deluxe resort accommodations each time. Time at the pools, easy travel to parks, rope dropping, etc. Total emotional move of "our kids are young now, let's do this and make this something they hopefully will cherish as they age".
