DVC Pts are Rumored to Go to $100?!!

I'm glad I got my BCV add on last month before the increase! But....I'd buy an extra contract at 100per point if the Contemporary ended up as DVC!

Our guide told us points will be going up this year at SSR to $100. She never said it was a secret or confidential. I half wondered at the time if she was saying that as a sales tactic because we kept waffling on our decision to buy or not buy for so long.

I agree with tjkraz re: $99 or $99.99. The psychological impact of reaching the three-digit mark ($100) might very well be a bit too imposing for some. Classic sales psychology. That's why gas prices, car prices, etc., are all listed with a "9" ending. "Am I really paying $2.00/gallon to fill my gas tank? Why, no: It clearly says '$1.99/gallon' on the pump...."

Someone was telling me that SSR is supposed to go to $100 or something by the end of the year. Is that true? I was trying to get my guide to confirm but he was not around.

Anyone else heard anything like this?

TTS just sold one of my contracts and now I am thinking I should hold off on selling others until the price goes higher.

Thanks

If you assume the value of going to a nice resort over the next 38 years will remain at the same quality level it is now, and you assume a 3% inflation rate, the present value of the cost of 38 years of vacations at a nice resort will continue to increase until about 22 years out, where it will level off for about 5 years and then begin to decrease. A long-winded way of saying I am not surprised that the price will continue to increase for the forseeable future.

The points have been under-priced for years because of the slow start they got selling the original DVC at OKW. One thing to remember whether you pay $100 or $50 years ago the points all have the same value at the 7 month mark. When leasing points that is a good thing to remember, forget the nonsense about where you "own" and think of the the fact that if you are really never go to make much use of the 11 month mark, then there is no sense in leasing current points at SSR, if fact with the way points are rented out for nothing, it might make better sense to rent the points then become a member and lease them for 50 years or less, you don't have any dues when you rent, but being a member and leasing you have those annual dues to pay every year also.

I think it would make more sense to go to $99 and it also goes in line with what they have done in the past. They usually increase the number to the 9 factor.

I have a friend who bought into SSR at $84 and is still waiting to close. When I told him about the $100 rumor, he started talking about selling and taking his profit. The general consensus on the dis boards is that this is not really a money making investment, but a prepaid vacation plan. But as the price keeps rising, it becomes more of a commodity to buy and sell. If the rate of turnover increases, will it create any sort of instability in the program (while simultaneously making the buy/sell agents richer)?

Okay,

Looking into my crystal ball,

Guessing $105 for SSR in Dec 2004

Any other forecasters?
