DVC Promo Question?

I am not a DVC member (yet!! I hope someday!) so I hope this is the appropriate place to post this question.

My 'mother-in-law' received a DVC promo e-mail stating if she does an interactive tour (which appears to be on the phone or online, but you have to call first) she will receive a $25 Disney Gift Card to use on her upcoming vacation.

Has anyone else heard of this, received, or done before? Is it "legit" and not too much hassle? I do not think she will buy DVC but she could certainly use the gift card for the trip coming up in November.

Would appreciate any help or feedback.

It is legit. This promo has been done before. It is not one of the really common DVC promotions, but they do use it occasionally.

Took me about 10 minutes on the phone, short chat with a guide about what I knew about DVC and confirming that I had a current reservation with Disney. Got the Dreams book and DVD a few days later, and the $25 gift card a few days after that. (and 3 more little postcards offering BLT, SST and AKV - followed by another complete booklet and DVD mailing with coloring books for the children about a week after that.)

So not too much hassle - and no real sales push on the phone.

Don't know how much DVD spent on us in marketing the last few weeks, but in some way it worked - we ended buying, but a resale, not direct from them.

Thank you! This is great information and very helpful! Maybe it will convince my MIL to buy in that would be great, doubtful though!
