dvc presentation incentives?

Hi I'm very interested in owning a piece of disney. But my husband doesn't want to sit through the presentation. I've heard they sometimes offer incentives for listening to the sale pitch. We will be visiting in Nov. staying at the YC. Has anyone heard this? This may be the only way to convince my husband to spend some time in a presentation.

sometimes they will give you small gift cards ($15 or so, IIRC) or fastpasses.

sometimes they won't give you much more than some ice cream.

you can go by yourself if you want. alternatively, there is a model of the BWV rooms just off the boardwalk that you can wander through with no obligation to talk to anyone...if you happen to be in that area... (just across the water from the YC.)

How does your husband feel about ice cream, lemonaid, & cookies? Maybe some fast passes or a small gift card. If you are looking for them to pick up a part or all of your vacation forget it. They will however pick you up at your resort or park and give you a roundtrip ride to the presentation. Tell your husband it is very painless and low key.

I want to say back in 2001 when we went on a presentation that they we were offered a deal if we "purchased" during our trip.

The presentations are not bad- we did one last year. But definitely don't buy from Disney as you can save substantial amounts of money buying on the secondary market.

Unless you want BLT. I don't think there would be much for resale at this point. You might get fastpasses from attending the sales pitch.

There was a sales pitch? Seriously, if any of the guides I met gave me a "sales pitch" I was oblivious to it. Each time, I made my appointment or arranged one through a desk at a resort or in a park, grabbed a cup of lemonade, met my guide of the day and let them know up front that I was a memer of the DISboards and already knew a bit about the resorts, points, banking & borrowing. Each time they were more than happy enough to show me the model if I wanted to see it, let me ask questions / get answers, and arrange for a ride back to the park (after fastpasses and ice cream were seen to )

No pitch at all if you go in knowing your DVC basics. If you're husband's on the iffy side about DVC and you know it's right, the guide can help to show him the light by letting him play with the on-screen cash verses DVC calculator.

By "sales pitch", I don't mean to say anything bad about the way they promote and sell DVC. The OP used this term, so I used it too. The pitch is just the way they go about informing the customer about their product, and how it would fit with the purchaser's lifestyle.
We bought into BLT in May without having any previous information about DVC. With our guide's help, we were able to have all our questions answered and are now very pleased to be members. We didn't at any point feel pressure from our guide and had a very good experience. We also got fastpasses.

We had a flyer in our Room at the BC for $100 gift cert...(Last oct). Promptly went to Downtown Disney and spent it ;-)...Oddly we had signed up the day prior at the desk at AKL and they were only offering $25 - so check both - the desk and the room...

We got $45 in gift cards (yea dinner!) and 3 cards that contained 3 fastpasses each. Sadly we never got to use them as they were near the end of our stay. We did get to make a families night though. As we were getting off the shuttle at the Orlando airport and they were getting on I asked if they were going to Disney and handed them the cards, at least someone got some use out of it!

I'm not sure if we got more gift cards and fastpasses because we bought in as other reports seem to be of lower amounts. But yum for free snacks and ice cream!

I just spoke to my guide today and said I wanted to do a tour of the models when we arrive in Nov. He said they'd pick me up and give us fast passes. So that's what I was offered today anyway. I'm not sure if we will all have to go or if I can go solo. We have a toddler that won't like being dragged there....BUT we'll see. I had no intention of listening to a schpiel. I already plan to buy.

FOR BLT: with the current incentive (maybe expired) and a member referral, Disney is actually a better deal than most of the limited resales I have seen.

I have seen BLT resale already at the TimeShare Store. That was dang fast!

We went to the presentation August 12th. I told the rep what I knew about DVC and the resale market( iv'e been sittin on the fence for 4 years). She was happy she did not have to educate me, she answered my specific questions and gave me a tour of the models which is what I was mainly interested in.

Offered BLT,AKV $107 pt and full 2009 credit
Offered SSR $99 pt and full 2009 credit

The downer was the must buy 160 pts, except for SSR 100 pt minimum. I wanted 40pts to start with.

P.S. We got the instant fastpass(x3) for me the wife and the 2 of our kids that took the tour with us, 12 instant fastpasses more them made up the time of the presentation we went to

You can absolutely go by yourself! They aren't like other timeshares I've heard of that make both spouses be there...my mom and stepdad belonged to a couple other timeshares and if they knew you were married, they wanted both people there. DVC isn't like that.

That said, I know that my husband learned more from our guide than he did from me, even though we said the same things. So at some point it might be good for your hubby to hear things from the guide's mouth, if he has questions. On the other hand, the boards here are very helpful.

Things may have changed in the last couple of years, but a few years back I was in WDW with my BF and she wanted to do the presentation, so we did. However, the guide was not forthcoming at all, on any information, basically showed her the models and didn't take her seriously at all. When my BF said this to her, the guide told her that without her husband they wouldn't sell to her, so she could take some info home, but the guide wanted to speak to her husband before they would give her information on down payments, financing, etc.

While you can go to the presentation alone, I'm pretty sure they won't sell to you or begin paperwork without your spouse present. I wonder if they would've done the same thing to my BF if she was home and her DH was the one taking the tour??
