DVC Premium Pass Deal for 2013

It looks as though our family may be taking at least two trips between Dec 2013 and through the following year. I would be open to PAPs, but am holding out to see what happens with FP+. I would hate to be locked into something without my consent.

I read a rumor that said the reason for the discount was because they found too many DVCers were booking stays at a DVC resort and then heading to Universal/Seaworld/ETC.

This was their way of "tricking" us back into the Disney parks.

Not for us! If we go to Universal we check out of DVC all together and book a Universal Resort for the front of the line perks. They are amazing! :charac4:

One thing we do though while staying DVC is that we spend a lot of days just enjoying the resorts and pools and local area attractions. We schedule a lot of 'rest' days. No more park commando for us!

I "wish" that we had bought the PAP when it was offered, but we have never gone more than once in a year. Of course, now the way things have worked out we have two trips planned - Nov.2013 and March 2014. I have MYW tickets that I have been collecting the last couple of years. We will probably use them in November and upgrade to AP while there after activating the tix. Or if there is another discount offered before our trip - we will buy them!

Well they got us there in December, February and we will be back in August. Would have cruised otherwise.

I keep looking for a way to squeeze in another trip. With the way I bought the cards I managed to pay about what I would have for YES tickets and did not have to get my kids up early for a class. Of course I still made them go at rope drop. Amazing how much you can get done and how much more we swam this trip.

When did they announce this last year? Hoping to hear this again! :)

They got us too, 2/13, 9/13 and 1/14. My son ages over three for the next trip so he will need a ticket, but my daughter is still under 3 for the remaining trips coming up. They got the whole extra trip out of us!

I won't be activating mine till November, but we've planned an extra trip in May 2014 so it's definitely 'worked' on me!

LOL !!! Yes we bought the pass....Jan/Feb 2013 trip...June....Dec.... & possibly Jan. 2014...

In 2012 when we only had a one day PH....that was the only day we went to a park,we were at SSR for 9 days...

My DH said laughingly...stop buying an AP !!!

If they don't offer the deal again..we will probably take a break .

......

We're in for 3 trips this year because of the PAP deal too.....
March '13 - AKV
Aug '13 - Split BLT/OKW
Dec '13 - VGF

We originally were going to do Feb '14 at BLT (actually had 8 nights in a standard booked) to make the third trip but ended up buying an early December fixed week at VGF. Cancelled the Feb '14 and borrowed the points for the August '13 vacation.
Still have almost half of my BLT points for next year (Feb use year which I'll bank to '15) but won't go again until the Dec '14 fixed week at VGF.

I really don't think they'll offer that deal again this year.
There are still a bunch of people who haven't even activated their passes yet from last year.
Also, they increased the PAP discount for renewals this year so even though prices increased, you can get a PAP renewal price for less than last year. This in itself leads me to believe that's their way to get all of us enticed enough to renew because they're not offering the big discount again this year at least. JMHO

We'll activate our PAPs in November 2013 as well and are considering three trips on them. But suddenly a December trip is calling us. We never stayed at WDW in December. It might end up that we only do 2 on the PAP.

So which water park has the lazy river?

Boooo.... I never got one. I was being cheap. Now we're going for 3 weeks this Nov/Dec and I'm trying to figure out what to do.

C'mon DVC!!!!! Bring back the discount!

I can't see myself spending $464 with no future trips planned at this point. Most likely we'll get an expiring 10-day and just use tix we bought a long time ago for Universal. But-- it's pretty annoying to hear DD ask me where the princesses are as I'm walking through Diagon Alley.

We usually have AP but our ran out in our April trip. We are back for two weeks end of Oct/Nov. , so we have a chance that this deal could be on when we need to get new passes ? Is pass good for only 12 months or is it for 15 mo.
thanks

An AP is valid from the date it is purchased or activated at a WDW ticket-selling location, and it is valid until the same date the following year. They will not add days past the full year to any level of AP (unless this is Guest Recovery and very special circumstances).

A few years (during part of 2009 and part of 2010) ago there was a special promotion for Renewals and Florida Residents where you would get 15 months instead of 12, but that has ended

I over bought an extra one. Will be activating next month, but don't know what I'm gonna do with the extra one.

Unlike many of the people on this thread, the PAP deal did not make us book more travel to WDW. Since we have been purchasing APs for years, it just meant a cheaper version this time around. We don't really use the extra features of the premium pass, but it was cheaper than the discounted regular AP. Our use has always been to purchase an AP...travel 3 times in a calendar year and then take at least 11 months off before purchasing another AP.

Last year, our APs ran out the day after we went home, but we purchased the PAP discounted vouchers our last day in the parks to start use this December for our family holiday trip.

Since that extra pass as it has to be used on someone in your own household: I think you need to adopt a kid! :lmao:

or maybe "borrow" a niece or nephew for a year?

Not a bad idea... anyone has a kid i can borrow? :lmao:

Am I allow to sell it to other DVC members? That green plastic card doesn't have any name on it. Or does it have to be use by members of my household?

Our story was similar. We bought them because we needed APs anyway and they were cheaper. I wasn't sure if we'd get to use the water parks on any of our trips this year, but thought the 20% merchandise discount was nice. Then they took that away, so if we don't make it to a water park in October, then these will have been used as regular APs.
