Hello all-
I just had an offer to transfer some of my DVC points to someone that needs them . We've agreed on a price, but how do I transfer the points, exactly ?Thanks to all who respond !

Agreed on price? I don't understand... it's against DVC rules to transfer points for money. If DVC finds out about it you could be in trouble. Better keep your mouth shut. :thumbsup2

MS requires both sides to approve the transfer, it is easiest to set up a 3 way call. and yes virtaully everyone gets paid for transfering point out but MS does not want to know about so they do not get involved in financial disputes.

Not only do they not want to get involved, the are starting to police the transactions. We transferred points to another member in October and during the transfer the other member said something about paying and the CM refused to complete the transfer. I called back later by myself with the other members account number and as soon as they pulled up my account, they referred me to a Manager. They read me the legalize about renting for compensation. I assured them that I wasn't and they completed the transaction.

Now I fear that my account is flagged.

I don't think they need the receiving party to approve. I have had points transferred by another member without me on the phone. All they need (I think) is your name and city, but I gave my member number as well.

I have done a three way conference call and had points transferred into my account.
Once the transfer was complete, I dropped MS services off the call and continued my conversation with the other DVC memmber. We never mentioned $$$ when we were on the phone with MS.

Yes they do require the reciveing party to approve the transfer, it does not have to be done at the same time but they definetly are supposed to clear it with both sides.

They never contacted the member from post #4 above.

Looks like it depends who you talk to at MS.

I received transfer points last month and never had to approve the transfer.

IT sound like some MS personel are not following the new standard, not a surprise since they do not follow the standards that have been around a long time. I got "breifed" on transfers about a year ago all the way up to QA level. There are still quite a few details about transfers that even at that level they were not sure about.

What would the point be for requiring the receiving party to contact MS before the transfer is completed unless there were two people with the same name from the same town?

I guess because you can only have one transfer in or out per use year? I'd hate to receive "accident points" when I intended to transfer points out or receive even more points...

they had issues with the "wrong" points being transfered, the wrong amout being transfered etc so they want verification of the details from both sides, so their is not issue with having to reverse a transfer. If they do a transfer without the recivers autorization they are liable to have to reverse it.

Interesting. I would think that the number of times that would happen would be very minimal and less time would be spent correcting than the time spent having to talk to the receiving party every time. Just my first thought on it.

But - if I ever do a transfer I'll know that both parties may need to be contacted - depending on the CM.

I called MS about two weeks ago to get my member number (new DVCer here) on a Friday morning. I called another member Friday afternoon about a point transfer to me. She did the transfer and I never talked to MS about the transfer. I called the next day and was told the transfer was complete and made my reservations with the transfer points.
