So we own DVC and have certainly gotten what we feel is great value from it. We purchased a h9me very close to Disney last year. We have been using our DVC for staycation and renting remaining points out and doing quite well.

I am not a DVC expert but it has always been a desire of mine to stay at the Contemporary main tower theme park view. Just nostalgic for me.
We own a VGF and have done the theme park view and loved it

So I’m looking and to use my points to stay at Contemporary would be a minimum of 65-69 points cheapest season for Main Tower Theme Park view. I don’t mind using the points as we aren’t as much point meisers as we were now that we have a home nearby.

Am I better just using the points thru DVC or renting those points out. If I get $18 a point at 65 points that $1170 I am thinking I can probably get a room for one night with Florida resident or AP discount less than that correct?

Any guidance appreciated

Don’t forget - rental $$ is taxable - if you use a third party to rent them thru, they will send you a 1099 and if you rent them yourself, you’re supposed to declare them as income for tax purposes (although you can deduct maintenance from the income either way).

Ah didn’t think of that thanks

I've done a few swaps though the board sponsor for tickets to WDW, US, and hotel stays at US. None of it was a 1099 event (so far). So unless things have changed, if you can rent your points at a fair rate though them and also take advantage of discounts that they likely can help with (they were able to take advantage of deals at US for me) you might come out well ahead shopping for a deal with them and renting your points.

Of course things can change and I'd confirm if the swaps are still exempt. Perhaps an expert can chime in. Calling in @pkrieger2287

I hear you! Contemporary Tower was always our choice before OKW opened and we bought DVC. I occasionally try for a theme park view studio at BLT, but no success. But I have faith I will get it sometime. At least I'm perfectly happy staying at OKW.

You've nailed it! Swaps are deemed an equal exchange, so you will not receive a 1099 for points rented in that manner. You can learn more about the variety of programs offered here: https://dvcrentalstore.com/members/...ation/?utm_source=partner&utm_campaign=dvcfan
