DVC points & disney direct cash same room?

We have a DVC point trip planned. I want to add an extra night to the trip without having to change rooms, but there are no more point rooms available, but I can book my exact room with cash. Are they the same room? If I do this, will I be able to request to stay in the same room?

You may be asked to switch. You can't link them as a continuing reservation. The desk may be able to help. But you may have to move.

They are 2 separate inventories. They can not be linked as one stay.

Sometimes a few of the room categories aren't even available for cash reservation. You might try contacting Member Services (I take it you are a member) to see if they have it available for cash. Even then, you might not be able to link the two reservations.

Sometimes when you book a room on cash and you book a standard room, you are not getting the same category of room as standard on points. BWV is that way. Standard on cash through DRC is the same as Preferred/Garden view. When you arrive at your resort, check with the front desk to see where you are booked for your cash night stay. They might be able to book you into the same room. But it's a risk.
