Can anyone tell me the DVC points required to rent the campsites at various times of the year? Or where I may find this info? We just bought an RV and will possibly want to try the campsites at times?

Thanks.

Are you a member? The points are in your book's point charts under the Disney Collection. Or you can go to the member's site and check that.

For 2007 it ranges from 6 points/night, low season, weekday, to 18 points/night, weekend holiday season.

Even low season, the weekend is 11/points/night for a regular campsite.

If you're not a member, and are thinking of renting points, you're probably better off just paying cash. Points generally rent for about $10 each which would mean $60/night weekday low season, $110/night weekend low season, or $180/night weekend, holiday season.

By contrast, for 2007, campground rack rates range from $41/night low season (weekday or weekend) to $78/night holiday season.

Is this your first RV? you are going to LOVE it! We found we really didn't need all of our points so we sold some off and kept enough to use for HH vacations and for vacationing at the fort! I think once you stay there, even staying at a DVC resort won't seem as much fun! Never have to pack and unpack anymore!!

No, in contrast you have to pack the trailer with clothes, food, multitude of other req'd items and unpack & clean everything top to bottom when you get home... not to say anything about the dumping station.

But, yes, RVing can be fun and Ft Wilderness is THE best ever, so much so that this lady, who HATES the thought of RVing anymore, chose the Ft wilderness Cabins as her family's first Disney experience. Just make sure Ft Wilderness is not your family's FIRST RVing experience because you will be spoiled. There's no other campground in the world that can live up to Disney.

Financially, I believe it'd be better use of your points to pay cash for the sites and if you're not going to use your points bank or rent them.

Ugh, sounds like you get stuck with your share of the work! Actually, it's alot of fun to get the RV ready to roll and i don't DO dumping :lmao: but hubby said he doesn't mind (insert gag) and cleaning it afterwards isn't so bad cause it's nowhere near the size of your house cleaning job. Anything to avoid the airline hassles!

Thanks for advice...this will be OUR first RV, but I have traveled a little with my parents throughout the country in theirs.

I am a DVC member, but the major plus for using campsites is that I have pets, which would tag along if my husband goes. If I travel alone with grandkids, he or others take care of the pets.

And you are right, I probably could rent out points and come out a little ahead to later pay cash from the rental of the points.

Thanks and looking foward to our first trip soon. I love the decorations we have seen in the campground.

Keep in mind that if you travel with pets, you'll need to camp in the 'pet loop'.

Our home resort is BCV but we also own a RV. We like both experiences so we use the RV to (1) conserve points (weekends) and (2) to extend our stays at WDW. For us owning DVC and an RV equals the best of both worlds.

To the OP, I hope you continue to enjoy DVC ownership and that you enjoy your new RV equally.

Hi, I love your idea. We own a pop-up ans was wondering what do you do with your RV while staying in your home resort? Inquiring minds want to know! :teeth: Thanks

funhouse8, we park at the back part of the Beach Club Villas parking area. When we were there two weeks ago, there were three RV's in the lot, a tent trailer and two class C's. When we were over at Wilderness Lodge we saw a class c like ours (Winnebago View) at the far end of their parking lot. In February we will stay at OKW and we've already been told that we can park in thier lot.

I hope this helps.

I've seen RVs parking at OKW before. Was wondering what anyone did that goes to the HH resort though. I've seen RVs parked way in the back but not recently. The resort gave me two storage places to call on the island but they're quite expensive. Would like to stop there on the way back from FL.

Hiya All! Great thread. I have a question too. When you use DVC points do they put you in a certain loop area or what? Like BWV and VWL versus BWI and WL. We've never stayed there, but are looking at it for next year (on points, in MH, with dog). Just looking at the resort map and trying to figure it out.

Would be happy anywhere (cause we'd be at DISNEY :woohoo: ) but trying to get informed.

TIA

Ft Wilderness is not DVC, you can simply elect to use your points at the campground. You can request a certain area if you'd like such as near the trading post, a pet loop, close to a bus stop etc. It'd probably be nice to be near the marina - we've always stayed quite a ways back in the campground and never minded the rides, but that was back when they had the train and trams running through the area :goodvibes
