DVC points and cruise question

Okay, a guide, but not MY guide had told me, in the promo that just passed with the option to take a cruise OR the $ off of points that you could book your cruise and upgrade to a higher cat w/ cash. Now, that may or may not have been true. I didn't feel too comfortable w/ that guide. But if it IS true, can you do that w/ regular points? I seem to recall reading that you can't mix and match. You can't do some points and then some cash. Can someone help clear it up for me? We haven't bought yet and I ALWAYS think of these questions long after working hours so I can't call my guide.

Still sitting on my hands until the cruise to buy.

Yeah, I have the chart here. NOT a good deal for sure. Just wanted to know my options. I'm just wondering what we'll do should we end up loving the DCL cruise. Never-the-less, we'll always love the resort so it's probably moot.
I'm using Gib BTW.

We find it better to rebook a future cruise while on board for the 10% discount and shipboard credits, and save our DVC points for Disney.

We just got off the cruise last week and they were offering the best incentives I have seen for adding on DVC points while you are on the cruise. However you had to add on while on the cruise. They were offering BLT for $99 (100 points), $97 (125 points), or $95 (200 points). AKV and SSR incentives were $91 (100 points), $89 (125 points), and $87 (200 points). We are kicking ourself for not adding on while on board!

The longer I sit here and wait, the more points I seem to be inclined to buy. WAZ UP w/ that! When I first started thinking about it, I thought "gee, if I could only buy a 100 point or so contract" now it's "I think 200 sounds good".

The friend that I have that likes to DCL cruise told me that if I lke pampering (which I LOVE, just not the poopy kind ...I just changed one of those twice in the last hour ) then I'll LOVE cruising. So I have a feeling, I'm in for another addiction. Yikes! Our income doesn't support our lifestyle! Or preferred lifestyle. (tongue in cheek guys!)

Our guide told us if you are cruising as a family that it is smarter to use points for adults and just pay for the kids. I don't know that it is all that bad of a deal. Last time I priced a DC it would have been over 5K for my family to go. We just did a cruise this past winter in Southern Caribbean that was only 1500.00 for a week for the two of us. Not Disney I know but for the money a better deal, and we loved it!

It's the Disney Snowball, you get hooked Disney, then you need more points so that leads to the dreaded Add-on-itis disease.

What are they offering for VGC? 'Cuz I'd love to add on there.

California add on was $24 off per point for 100 points, $26 off per point for 125 points, and $28 off per point for 200 points. Also, there were incentives to give up some of the money off per point to get free cruises.

I really wish I could go back and get these incentives again!!! I am kicking myself for not adding on while on board. And my next cruise is not until Nov 2010 so who knows what the incentives will be then.
