DVC Point Charts for 2011 - Post chart release discussion begins on Pg 14

we ONLY did weekday stays...this sucks because now we need more points. I was OK with the 2010 chart but with more reallocation in 2011, it sucks for us cheapsters!!!

Curse you DVC!!! :)

Where did they go?

I see everyone's comments about the new chart, but they are not on the member site right now. Did they pull them already????

hhmmmmmm

Just reviewed the AKV chart, looks like Savannah View and Concierge rooms took the brunt of the hit in terms of increases, while Values and Standard View rooms dropped. Premier season took a major leap upwards in most cases.

I'm not happy about the reallocation (just as I wasn't happy last year - especially being a new member), but I'm just so exhausted from the poor upfront response from Disney I am just fed up. I also love how I just received a "News Alert" in my e-mail, literally seconds ago, and it doesn't even mention the point charts or reallocations. Pathetic customer service.

It looks like weekdays once again took the increases, plus adventure season took a good jump.

My 6 night adventure season BWV 1 bedroom trip went from 158 to 171, +8.2%, choice season (food & wine) from 175 to 179, +2.3%

The weekly totals for magic season dropped slightly.

Weekly totals for standard views dropped, preferred/boardwalk increased. Which doesn't make sense since standard views are so hard to get.

This is good for my family. We used to take ten day trips with only one week-end. With work and the kids activities, that was getting too hard. Now we still go for ten days, but we have two week-ends. This will save us a lot of points.

With the increase in airfare, we are tending to go less often and stay a full 7 nights on each stay so I'm not as affected by the changes as those who are strictly Sun-Thu visitors. I am disappointed that once again, the weekly totals for the time we typically go went up, with one exception that went down by 2 points. Worst case, a week in a Savanna View 1BR at AKV in Dream Season went up another 9 points.

Just looking over the AKV chart - Do I see this correctly? - Standard View Studio in Dream Season is CHEAPER Sunday-Thursday and for a week than it is in Choice Season! What??!!!

Choice - Sun-Thur = 13 pts. and for the week = 93 pts.

Dream - Sun-Thur = 12 pts. and for the week = 90 pts.

Haven't looked at any others as this just caught my eye - but I'll be looking now!

Notice on the AKV chart there is now a standard view for grand villas. Not on 2010. I'm not familiar with AKV, are there some GV's without a savannah view?

We know they aren't good at proofreading, there was a major mistake in the first BLT chart released last year.

I remember that - one would think they would have learned from that mistake...one would think!:sad2:

See the earlier posts by LisaS & erionm referencing the GV near the pool/Uzima Savanna

Especially as 2009 seems to have been an unusual year in DVC bookings - probably due to the economy. I've seen a ton of reports of reservations at the 7-month mark that were unexpected. I wouldn't want 2009 data used as a predictor for future trends.

Anyone know if all the cro bookings made at DVC resorts are included in the predictions, as these should'nt be counted surely

In SSR, the 1BR and 2BR/THV for the most part took the hit. Studios went down and so did GV, but 1 and 2 BR's which I would think would be the most requested went up.

Depends on when you stay. The 1 & 2 bedrooms really went up for adventure and choice, but actually the two bedrooms went down a point for a dream season stay. I also think the one bedrooms went down in points between 08 & 09, but now they zoomed back up (especially in ad. and choice season).

I can't believe how much they have changed the weekday stays. No big deal for us as we always wanted to use a full week.

How smart of DVC to "leak" the points chart so we could all proof them for DVC before they were made official. Now if the official ones get posted to the member website and still has the error, I obviously gave them to much credit.

I didn't see any other examples of this on the other charts.

Assuming that they've simply crossed up the Sunday-Thursday points between the two seasons, if they were switched, the Choice season week would be 88 pts. and the Dream season week 95 pts.

I like that the AKV value studios in Adventure and Choice seasons are even cheaper than they were before the 2010 reallocation - down to 69 points for a week now. A nice way to save on points if you have to.:thumbsup2

1BR (09/10) 2BR(09/10)
Adventure 178/183 242/246
Choice 192/197 251/252
Dream 224/227 286/285
Magic 242/241 318/315
Premier 320/318 416/417

Yes 1BR did go down 1pt for magic and 2 for premier, but 1BR in general (for entire year) went up 10pts.

2BR when down 1pt in Dream and 3 in Magic, but again overall went up 2.

Unfortunately we usually get a 1BR and never go during Xmas break, so it will pretty much always (short of the 1pt in Magic) cost us more.

Sorry to hear that. Last year I was pretty upset because some people really got steamrolled by the changes (in particular, people who had just bought into BLT and were basing their purchase on a chart Disney was showing them for an unopened resort). Didn't effect me at all, but I didn't think it was fair to those people. Or the people who now are put into the situation of having to purchase more points (hey, look at that, there's a 50 pt minimum add-on now).

It wouldn't bother me if I could detach myself emotionally and just look at it as a business move.
