I always pay ours with our US $ TD visa card.
Always wait 'till about 2-3 days before the Feb.15 deadline.
Maybe by then our $ will be worth more than 10 cents
About 2 years ago we opened a US based TD account. Wire transfer are free from our TD US dollar account in Canada to our account in the US. Can even do them online now for up to $2500. It also allows us to have annual dues come out monthly I believe. That reminds me, I should look into that.
Sear Mastercard is straight exchange with no extra charges added unlike other Canadian CCs. I use it for all my transactions that are not in Canadian funds and it saves me a lot when I don't have to pay for US cash. Best part is it is a free card and gives you a ten dollar gift card every thousand.

By the way, Amazon.ca is also offering a no annual fee, no currency exchange fee, credit card. It comes with a reward program where you earn :
2 Points: Per $1 spent on Amazon.ca
1 Point: Per $1 spent anywhere else your Amazon.ca Rewards Visa Card is accepted
Every 2000 points earned are automatically redeemed for a $20 statement credit.
So it's not the greatest credit card, but it's the best I found so far for my purchases in foreign currencies.
Direct monthly withdrawl from RBC Bank account. RBC has a US branch call RBC Bank. Simple matter to get an account set up there and have monthly withdrawls set up.
I've written a cheque from my US dollar account at my Canadian bank and mailed it in. I probably am not supposed to do that and should open an account at the U.S. counterpart of my Canadian bank, but I've done this for at least the last 6 or 7 years and the payment always goes through.
I mailed my cheque about 2 weeks ago and the money came out of my account today so it's still working for me this year.

I called members service on friday and asked them if I could send a check from a canadian bank (in US $) and I was told that it wouldn't be a problem and they accept checks from our banks.
My problem is solved for 2015. I'll pay with a credit card next year... Much faster!
I pay mine with the RBC US Visa. The saving in exchange rate for dues plus 1 trip across the boarder a year pays for the annual fee and the points are great.
Pre-authorized annual charge to our credit card...We became members in 2002 and was never given any other option. We had a US credit card at the time and was still told we couldn't do monthly payments.
