DVC Owner Referrals programme.

Have been trying to research this but cannot find the answres.

Can anyone in simple terms advise me how this works. ie. incentives given by Disney if you recommend a person and they buy.

It depends on where you live. We were referred by someone last year and I believe they got $200.

As mentioned, it does depend on the state in which you live. I have referred several people who purchased, but unfortunately Virginia does not allow DVC to "reward" me with a "commission" or "bonus" for referring someone.

There is a progressive "reward" scale if your state does allow the compensation. I believe the first bonus is $200 and then the more referrals you make, the more the bonus. I think the max is $500 for a referral.

I'll dig around and see if I can find that info, I know it was in a thread at one point.

Oh, I forgot to mention, DVC will sometimes offer special programs that will reward you with gift certificates if you refer someone and they complete the DVC tour (by phone or in person). At one point it was $25 gift certificate to Disneyshopping.com, then it went up to $50 gift certificate. I know the $50 gift certificate promo is over now but the $25 might still be there. Now I did receive the $50 gift certificates for referring folks, but not the $200+ bonus checks if they actually purchased.

Due to state laws, DVC is unable to offer the referral bonus in certain states. It is based upon the state in which the referrer (current DVC member) resides.

Here is the list of states that allow referrals:

Alabama, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisianna, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missisippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

Bonuses are based upon the number of successful referrals in one calendar year. The calendar year is based upon the year in which the closing occurs.

1st referral-$200 Disney Dollars
2nd referral-$350 Disney Dollars
3rd referral-$500 Disney Dollars

Several weeks after closing, DVC will notify the referrer and offer several options for the bonus: receive the funds in cash (Disney Dollars), apply to next year's Annual Dues, or apply toward an add-on purchase.

Thank you for your help. We live in England as do our friends that we recommended and have now purchased at SS. They were advised when purchasing that we would receive $200 from our maintenance. This has not happened this year although we have had an acknowledgement letter from Disney thanking us for our referring.

Will contact Disney as there are no such laws in this country preventing us receiving this bonus.

Do they still do referral bonuses? Just curious bc my cousin just bought and said we referred her.Thanks.
