Are they still giving out the mugs at the DVC reception on board? Just wondering if I need to pack insulated cups or not.

I was wondering this too! How do they do the DVC receptions onboard ship? How do we know about them? We are fairly new DVC members and have only taken one point trip so far to Aulani. Can the other people on the reservation go to the reception, or just the actual DVC owners? How do we find out when the reception is?

You can bring guests with you to the Member Celebration. We've always received a call from DVC prior to the sail date letting us know when/where the member celebration will be. For many of the cruises, the member celebration is typically at 2:30 on embarkation day. The time/location will be in the Personal Navigator.

Great about the mugs. You can never have too many Disney mugs! Are they the Tervis style? Anyone with pictures?

I want one. .but wait, I'm an "associate" my parents are the DVC owners. So I'm probably SOL. My parents are not coming either.

The reception is almost always right before the lifeboat drill. Normally like 2-3 or 230-330 on embarkation. Then, they will have other events during the cruise. If you go to the reception on the first day, they will notify you of other events. If you don't go to the embarkation gathering, stop by the DVC desk to let them know you are a member. They will give you free gifts and keep you updated on DVC events. They usually have pins, lithos, and other neat stuff throughout the cruise. Any person in your party can go and enjoy the free drinks because they figure you will help sell them on DVC.

On the Dream we also got the macaron's from Vanellopes. I ate more than my fair share of those $2 treats!

They also have a DVC stand set up in the terminal where you can check with them to be certain they have you on their list of DVC members on the cruise. We are DVC rookies as well and we did this over our New Years cruise. Also in the terminal they traded out our castaway club lanyards for DVC lanyards which we really liked!

This is only manned until 2 pm as the CM working it will need to get on-board to help setup for the member celebration.

I was on the Magic in late March and I picked up our lanyards (in the terminal) and at the meet (2:30 on embarkation day in the D lounge) we got the mugs, the beverage sand drink holder (which I was informed by the DVC rep on board makes a great ice cream holder :-)) and we also received the hats plus the DVC 25th anniversary button. About a week before the cruise I got a phone call letting me know about the meet and also to let me know we would have a special guest. They guest turned out to be Stitch (have some great photos). I am the DVC member and my parents were traveling with me and they got to come as well and they also got the gifts. I would say there were about 40ish people at the meet.

Pluto was our special guest on the 3/28 Dream. We got mugs, lanyards, and 25th anniversary pins at the reception. Later in the week by stopping at the DVC desk we got the drink holders (unfortunately our CC day was rained out because I had them packed to use!), temporary tattoos, hats, and little light up bracelets.
One thing I have not seen on this thread is that I had a nice DVC "welcome home" magnet on the door of my stateroom when we arrived. I didn't expect that.
I still have navy blue hats from our 2003 cruise and red hats from our 2004 cruise, so now I also have light blue hats. I'm sure the DVC faithful would revolt if I donated them to goodwill....

Does anyone have photos of the newer items? Our last cruise was hats and string backpacks...

I am so DVC member and was wondering how do they know we are DVC? Do they compare the list of cruiser to DVC database? or do you need it noted on your reservation?
