I attended this morning's DVC Reception at the Fairmount Hotel here in CHicago and was very impressed. They went all out with refreshments, decorations, prizes and DVC info being passed out!

Two tidbits on DVC News! Starting in December members will be able to both bank points on the website and also view up to a two year transaction history of DVC memberships. Will save a few calls to Member Services I am sure! They assurred us that is just the beginning of new techie things to come!

Also, they will be starting a mailing to DVC members two weeks prior to their DVC reservations. The mailing will be an update of what is going on in the World and other items of interest to those getting ready to travel down.

Great news!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

That is good news. DH was just asking me about some of the upgrades on the Member Site that they mentioned would be coming when we were on the MC.

Sounds good to me, since Friday I called to make a ressie for Feb. (got a 1 bdrm at OKW!!) and forgot to bank the remainder of points. Guess I'll call 'em back on Monday.
Points stuff on the web site would make be visit over there more often.

Thanks for sharing. Glad you had a good time at the gathering.

Thanks for sharing this with us. Thats all good news.

Both of those pieces of news are fantastic! Makes me a happier DVC Member! :sunny:

Thanks for the information Carol! I'm glad someone from the DIS was able to go to this meeting.

I went to the afternoon session. They also mentioned starting in Dec or next year that they we now would be able to pay our annual dues online too!

I didn't hear about the banking of points. They said we would be able to view them online and the 2 year history but said nothing on the banking. Hopefully they just forgot to mention that in the afternoon sesson.

I didn't win anything but they gave out a great prize. One grand prize winner got a free trip from II to be used anywhere around the world. They gave away 10 Mickey wreaths and other prizes in bags that we couldn't see but I had heard one was a pair of slippers from SSR so I assume more things like that.

We also got cute flashy buttons with the DVC logo on it.

The food was very good and my session wasn't crowded at all. Talked to a wonderful lady while waiting and they are good friends with Don Williams who had signed and numbered the special litho they were giving out if you added on points.

Other info they gave were things we already knew about like the portable perks, being able to stay concierge at the Cont, Terf Club full service restaurant and things of that nature.

They also mentioned that the member cruise sold out in 5 hours last year.

Also talked about the AP perk and it doesn't sound like it is going anywhere. Said they are 95,000 family member strong and with more members comes more power and that they had been working 14 years on this deal. So by the sounds of it, the AP discount doesn't look like it is going anywhere.

That's great news about the AP discount! Thanks for posting. :) Do you know if this is an annual thing in Chicago?

Og goody, goody, goody! Thanks for passing this on!

Best wishes -

This all all good news! :cool1:
Thanks for letting us know.
Cobbler, that is wonderful news about the AP discount

Now don't all come back on me if I am wrong ;) But by the sounds of it, it doesn't look like it is going anywhere.

They were talking and asking how many are AP holders, asked if we loved the perk. Told us what a great deal it was, told us to buy the AP come one week at DVC then come the week before it expires the next year and really take advantage of it. Told us that it the same as a 7 day ticket, that they had been working on this for a long time and so on.

I don't think they would put that much plug into it if it were going away soon.

Thanks for your report, Cobbler - much appreciated - have a good time and enjoy

We were also at the Sat afternoon session. DH was the first one to win one of the table decorations.

In addition to the added membership contributing to getting the AP discount, she also said that it will allow them to do more events away from WDW like the one yesterday. She also said that more members meant more power and more resorts, including other locations. Didn't reveal anything or elaborate on it, but DH and I both looked at each immediately to make sure we heard her correctly.

They also highlighted the decreased points at DL. DH and I both were speculating if they did that to get people to go to DL so if and when they announce a DVC in CA people will be more interested because they've been to DL and seen all the area has to offer.

I agree with Cobbler that it sounds like the AP discount is here to stay.

This was an awesome affair. I highly recommend it if it comes to your city. The food was great the decorations were spectacular!

We talked our friends, who got us hooked on DVC to come w/us and LOL they won the Grand Prize of a vacation destination anywhere in the world. We were thrilled for them. We won a pair of SSR slippers and asked them if they wanted to trade...hehe..they declined.

Hi it's Goldi, we were the family of 4 (hubby, me, and DD=7 with Blue stipped dress on)....

We had fun too. Won a nifty coffee mug (daughter already claimed that), and a pretty mickey table decoration.

I passed on the table decoration to the couple in front of us, as they hadn't won anything, and the lady was asking to see the decoration...

so told her Happy Holidays, and enjoy.

I love Disney. It was a fun day, and great to meet so many nice disney folks.

Goldi
