We are booked into a 1 bedroom at VWL in August and have never stayed at any of the DVC properties. We did tour BWV several years ago when we were considering a DVC purchase, and thought it was very nice.

A few questions.....

Does VWL have smoking villas? One of us is a smoker, and if they do, I want to call and add that request to our reservation.

Is room service available? If so, what kind of food? We have the Dining Plan, but I just never know when DS12 or DW would prefer to eat in the room.

How long is the walk to the boat? Or, are we better off taking the bus to MK?

Any advice or info on what to expect would be great!

Thanks.

Thanks........ the CMs on DCL always welcome us home every time we sail. It's a nice way to start a vacation.

Like all DVC resorts, VWL does have smoking villas. Yes, add that to your reservation. It is a request, and if they are overbooked with people in smoking rooms, you will get a non-smoking room. If this happens, PLEASE ask your guest to refrain from smoking in the room.

Room service is available...here's a link to the menu http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/men_wlir.htm

The walk to the boat is not that far and very pleasant as you go past the main pool, a geyser and a wooded path to the dock. The bus is an option if you'd prefer, but I'd think you might prefer the boat as it's a nice ride past the Contemporary and it's cool to approach MK by water.

You'll have a great time. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the great info. I will definitely call and add the smoking villa request.

We've gone to WL several times for dinner at the Whispering Canyon, and always took the boat. You are right.... it is a nice ride, much better than the bus.

Enjoy your first DVC stay!! :) We've always loved the WL so once we bought DVC (SSR), our first stay was a one bedroom at VWL and it was just as magical as the Lodge. :thumbsup2 When you call to request smoking, you may also want to request a room on the lakeside of the resort. They view is much nicer and some rooms have a view of the evening water parade.

Thanks for the tip. When we stayed at the Polynesian we stayed concierge lagoon view and had a "ringside" seat every night to the water parade. It was a great way to end the day.

Another VWL member here-you're gonna love it! Welcome! Definitely take the boat.

Avoid the busses, if you can. The boats are wonderful.
