DVC Mike Live from VWL (Jan 9-17, 2010)

DVC Mike,
I've always admired the quality of your trip report pictures (I like to think I can pull off a fairly amazing shot every now and then), but this time, I can't scrape my jaw from the floor! Sure, the Fla sun makes a lot of cameras produce their best shots, but not this good! The color and sky in every single picture!!!!
Has it been too long since I followed your last trip report, or am I now convinced that a DSLR is worth every single penny and then some?

:)Thanks for sharing, Mike! Here's hoping you reach that 70 degree mark by the end of the week.

Glad to hear you are going to warm up a little before you have to leave! We had similar weather about this time last year too....cold the first half and nice the second half.

Oh, and I still call it the "People mover" yet too!:thumbsup2

I'm glad you'll be able to enjoy some of the warmer weather. We left yesterday...what a cold vacation we had!

As usual, I'm enjoying your excellent pictures!!!

We were at MK yesteday 11-1, family stayed longer. It was a lot more crowded where we were than I notice in your pictures!

Enjoyed the beautiful photos.

Quick question-is there a connecting door in the studios at WLV and if so, where is it?

Enjoy the rest of your trip!

Beautiful pictures Mike. We were at the MK today. My photos aren't as sparse as yours crowd wise, but we arrived much later in the day too...

Riding the Tomorrowland Transit Authority (although I still call it the People Mover)

I still call it the People Mover too! I came on the Disboards tonight b/c I wanted a disney-fix and your pictures are just the thing I needed! Thanks for posting such wonderful pictures! :goodvibes :thumbsup2

Oh my, do you know if the buffalo head is from a real buffalo? Hoop De Doo is on my list of to-dos but my daughter will not eat anywhere with ex-live animals on the walls.

Hi Kate, it might be best if you tell her they're all fake at Disney whether they are or aren't ;)

This one looks suspiciously like the ones in the MK's Country Bear Jamboree. However I know for sure that there are real (now antique) stuffed animals (a buffalo, deer and a bear) over in Trails End next door. Those have been there since Ft Wilderness first opened.

I'm still learning all the ins and outs of the Nikon D5000 dSLR, but I like it.

On the boat ride back from the MK, the guy driving the boat struck up a conversation with me when he saw my camera. He has the Nikon D90 and we discussed camera gear, etc.

We arrived New Year's evening and left on the 8th.......daytime temps ranged from 48 to 58 the entire week we were there and it was very windy also. Nighttime lows ranged anywhere from high 20's to mid 30's...........not my idea of Florida. The parks were very manageable crowdwise......we didn't really wait more than 15 to 20 minute for anything. But, DVC Mike's photos seem to indicate the crowd level has dropped off even more. Of course, then we returned to daytime highs in the single digits!!!!!

Enjoyed the beautiful photos.

If you're asking about where the studio connects to a 1 bedroom to make a lock off 2 bedroom, that door is in the living area. In the studio, it's close to the round table.

Thank you so much for the awesome pics mike!! I had my DH look at all your VWL pics. That is a main one HE wants to try. For the most part, he just goes along with what i want to do but he really wants to stay there! Can't wait for more!

Mike, one thing you'll find with a DSLR vs point and shoot the colors directly out of the camera in a DSLR aren't quite as saturated. P&S cameras usually oversaturate the colors and over sharpen the images because the assumption is that the images probably won't be manipulated much by the user. It may go straight from the camera to a printer. The DSLR color is made to be worked in post processing, it is much easier to adjust color that isn't over saturated or oversharpened.

That being said you can also change the amount saturation and sharpness you want your camera to have on must DSLR's.

Thanks for the great pics, Mike! Your TRs brighten my day and make me even more excited for our upcoming trip. Glad the weather is warming up in FL. It's still cold here in NC!

Great pics Mike..... This makes my 31 day countdown all the brighter! Have the secret lanscapers transformed the flowering plants yet?

Thanks Mike another great thread with photos. I haven't been able to be on the DIS much lately but have been able to keep up with your posts. The BLT photo was spectacular and love the photo of the MK entrance showing a Monorail train too. Looking forward to the next four days of posts.

We went over to Downtown Disney Marketplace this morning for what my wife calls "SHOPPING!!!".

We didn't do the balloon ride again, but it looked lice a nice day to take a ride.
