My first impression of the hotel itself was that it looked and smelled crisp and clean, as did the restaurant. The lighting is very much to my liking. We were taken to our table where I announced to the waitress that I have many allergies and handed her a short note that my wonderful husband had printed up for all of the restaurants in hopes of eliminating confusion. She politely took the note and said that she would take it to Chef. About five minutes later her waitress partner came back to the table and explained that everything in the restaurant was unsuitable for my consummation as ALL prepared sauces etc. have soy, not most, but ALL. I would like to point out that the Chef never came to our table.
Off course they were happy to discuss options. I told her that I was hoping that some simple grilled or broiled veggies could be made and after a few minutes of bouncing thoughts back and forward we came up with broiled tomato with broiled mozzarella and some sauteed veggies in LIGHT butter sauce, we were well on our way!
When the dish came to me at first glance all was well, quite frankly I was hungry and the broiled tomato with mozzarella smelled and looked outstanding. After I had settled my hunger I started really looking at my dish. I quickly realized that the veggies were all green with no contrast, over cooked, a bit soggy and swimming in a butter sauce at the bottom.
Now to most vegetarians soggy veggies soaking in a pile of butter is very unappetizing, especially severed by a restaurant that claims to be "signature". It simply was not appealing to look at and by the first half of the meal all I could taste was the butter. By the time Mike had finished his dinner I had left half my meal on the plate and it just sat there looking like a pile of green soggy buttery goop. That being said the tomato and mozzarella was very good. But the most exciting part of my dinning experience was the square bottom bag they gave me to take my tomato home in.
To be fair the waitress did give me a card so that in the future I could call ahead to speak with the kitchen staff so that they could maybe make a special sauce for me which I thought was very nice of them. I just do not understand how a restaurant that is so close to Disney, that claims to be signature could not offer me one thing in the kitchen biased off of ONE of my allergies, forget the other seven. Topping that off with well over cooked veggies swimming in butter. I just do not get it, sauteed veggies is kitchen 101, for any restaurant. Needless to say I thanked them for the bag and walked out ready to let everyone on the boards know that you had better call ahead if your allergic to soy, otherwise nothing on menu is available to you.
