DVC Mike Live from BLT (8/14-8/16/09)

The decor of the rooms doesn't do much for me (though I've been told you need to see it in person), however most of the art that I've seen pics of is really cool. I especially like the monorail photo you took. Nice!

:thumbsup2 I just got back from 8 days at BLT & boy was it BEAUTIFUL!!!

I honestly think I can never stay anywhere but there again!!!

We are not DVC members so we were not allowed access to the lounge. I did try but I was denied. Can't blame a girl for trying!

My kids LOVED the pool & slide, & honestly, so did I!!!!

The only negatives I have are:
- The pool is extremely shallow, the deepest it get is approx. 4 feet & it is only at the center of the pool, otherwise it is 3 feet & the water barely came up to my waist. Not a big deal, I just knelt down a lot! My 5 yo loved that she could stand!!

- The lighting in the bathrooms is not good at all. We had a 1 bdr. Villa & it was very hard for me to put on makeup, again, not a big deal, just something worth noting.

- Lastly, if you have young kids, definitely bring 2 nightlights with you!! It gets very dark & I definitely needed the nightlights in the bathrooms for those middle of the night potty needs :thumbsup2

You will not regret staying here!! It is absoluetly FANTASTIC!!!!

Do you mind if I ask which view you had? We will be there in June for our first trip home :cool1: with a MK view, and wondered about all the lights from MK, parking lot. Do the drapes work that well?

Sorry, Mike, for the brief threadjack! Thanks for all the pictures, and review!

We had a Bay Lake view but I can 100% tell you that the drapes work extremely well!!!

They are truly room darkening & I do not think you will have a problem what so ever. My kids never woke up before 9 am & usually slept until 9:30!!!!!!!

Thanks!

Hey Mike, if you check back in, want to take a picture of this infamous bathroom door gap so we can see what the hype is all about? Enjoy Sanaa!

We were originally scheduled to stay at Kidani Village back in May when it first opened up. We changed our minds and booked the Disneyland trip instead. So, this is our first trip back to WDW since Kidani opened and we went over to take a look at Kidani Village.

Our opinion? We like it! We wandered around a bit and then had a great meal at Sanaa. I enjoyed the Naan as well as the Shrimp with Green Curry Sauce and Beef Short Ribs.

While the drapes work fine, I wish there was a second set of white sheer drapes like most resorts have. That way, you can have a bit of privacy during the day without having to darken the room.

This "infamous" bathroom door gap is getting a ridiculous amount of attention, IMO. It's a non-issue to me. If this is the biggest issue with BLT, then it will be a great success.

ITA with both posts!!!!

I agree also. The "gap" was not like you can see in. There is a lip outsided the door. The door just does not go all the way to wall.

The sheers would be needed especially is you face the monorail, you can right in the rooms.

:surfweb:Just joining in. Mike you're great:worship: I'm planning our Nov 2010 - 1st ever WDW trip:woohoo: and will be reviewing all your TR's(I loved the Disneyland TR). We'll be doing a split stay and Jumbo will be our first stop. Now I'm having the wonderful dilemma deciding between the other resorts for the second part.

Enjoy your trip:yay: THANKS!!

I LOVE this pic!! I can just picture sitting here with DGrD in two months!!:cool1: Cannot wait for our first BLT stay!

So glad you enjoyed Sanaa - we agree that the green curry shrimp and short ribs were very good:thumbsup2- and the view for us (window table) was amazing! These two new resorts combined with our old faves just add to the excitement of our trips over the next few years:goodvibes
Enjoy the rest of your trip.

Thanks for posting this! It's actually something I've been waiting to find out (and I included a question about it in the BLT Q&A thread).

Are there two slides at the pool? I noticed the longer blue one and then another that looked liked it wasn't as long and curvy.

Thanks for the terrific pictures! I especially like the ones with the pool at night and the gorgeous glass block tiles by the water slide! Can't wait to stay there!! :lovestruc

Mike - as always, AWESOME pictures. Thanks for once again "taking us along" with you on your trip. Beautiful stuff.

Newcastle is my favorite beer too! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the pics. We are new owners at BLT as well and your pics only help confirm we made the right decision
