DVC membership and rented points

I'm a DVC member but we didn't have enough points for our upcoming vacation so have rented them. Will our room key say DVC member or not? If so can we ask it to say DVC member if we show our DVC member cards?

How was the reservation made? If either you had the points transfered into your account by the other party, and you made the reservation, or if you had the other party make the reservation, yes, it will say "DVC member".

As long as the reservation was booked with points, the room ID should read "DVC Member." But realitically that notation is little more than a vanity mark these days. Used to be that it would allow members to obtain DVC discounts just by presenting the room key. That's not the case anymore. If you read the DVC Member website and even issues of the Member Clubhouse, you'll see they are now requiring the blue member ID card for just about every perk.

Some CMs will probably still give out discounts after just seeing the room ID. But if you really want to be certain you'll get the discounts to which you are entitled, get in the habit of carrying that blue ID card.
