How many DVC members who rent points, get fake people response to the posts? I had a post where, someone pretended to be intrested, but, it turned out to be a fake, in fact just a prank. I was wondering if others had similar experiences
Thanks

The thing is many people are looking to rent on this forum and will send emails to members asking availability, by the time some you answer they may have got a response from someone sooner and rented from them

I've never gotten a fake request. Usually I get so many e-mail replies to my post that I take them on a first come first serve basis. I do however let the others know that I am working with someone and should this fall through I'd get back to them. And...should they find someone else to get the points from just let me know. This always works out for me.

This happened 2 weeks ago, when I called the number provided, it was a voice recording of a cartoon character. I made the mistake of giving out my information, prior to getting renters information. I had a couple of these since I started renting in 04. Most of the renters are great people looking to enjoy Disney with there familes

I never ask for any information about the renter until they "agree to my terms'. I found in the past that I'd do all this "leg work" and then they'd say they weren't interested. Once I get the "terms agreement back" I get to work. I ask for a phone from them as part of the info for MS and just incase things get down to the wire and I need to contact them immediately. As a rule I don't give them my number unless they insist and then it's the cell.

Unfortunately there's always someone out there who's just trying to jerk people around. I honestly have to say that all of the renters I've come into contact with regardless if they have rented from me or not have been very nice.

You'll get a lot of shoppers, too. Looking for the best price.

Fortunately for us, a required deposit validates all requests. But this is the first I have heard of pranksters.
